Cool... I actually just purchased this remote about 10 minutes before seeing that this review was posted! My roommate stepped on my Harmony 550 and cracked the screen on it so I decided to purchase the 720. Glad to hear Tom liked it so much!

i would like to add that you can get this 20$ add-on to the ps3 and control everything but the power on/off from the remote using the harmony (i have the 880) PS3 IR Adapter

the device is listed in the harmony database and so it was pretty painless to setup... i basically stuck the included little remote in storage and haven't seen it since!
the on/off thing isnt a showstopper for me... as its easily done when inserting/ejecting discs.

Default Logitech PS3 Solution

Just a heads up, Logitech has announced a new device that will convert bluetooth to ir and allow full discrete control of the ps3 including power (which simple usb/ir solutions thus far have not). Don't know when its shipping yet....

Default Happy 720 owner here

The 720 is my 3rd Harmony remote and the best one yet.
I've still not found a reason to upgrade to the One or 8xx series. The slim and full color 720 does everything I could ever want and doesn't eat batteries like my 520 and 550 do.

I love the design. It looks much better than the 890. It's not as big and clunky, and doesn't send the dogs running for cover if it accidentally hits the floor.

Thumbs down

I had the Harmony 520 remote which has a very similar design to this one. The "Devices" button stopped working after about two years. I had to throw it out, that button is essential and once it stopped responding--it was useless. I'm not buying another Harmony remote with this flaky design.

My impressions were that the 720 (to me) felt slightly cheaper than the 550... I was glad I paid like $45 for mine rather than the full MSRP of $199. As it is I'm happy with my upgrade, but if I had paid $199 and gotten what I got I would have been slightly dissapointed. I think the 720 would still just barely win out in a head to head, but mostly for the rechargeability of the remote.

In some cases the extra soft buttons you get with the 720 are nullified by the fact that they removed the A/B buttons from the remote But, over all I'm very happy with it. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat given the right deal. Otherwise I might point perspective harmony owners to other models.

I've been looking at getting a remote but haven't found the right one yet. Any idea if this can be programmed to control an HTPC with Media Center? That would allow me to finally trim down to one remote.

Yeah, I just bought mine for $65 so I feel like I got a great deal. The lack of A/B buttons actually was kind of a bummer because that's what I used to change video settings quickly. But it'd be easy enough to just re-assign them to the '#' and '*' buttons on the 720.

Those buttons get used on some of my profiles though, plus it was nice having actual a/b buttons to match what is on my remote control (samsung bluray player for instance). I think the 720 is a great remote, just not $199 great... Maybe $150 MSRP good, after customary amazon discount.

I LOVE my Harmony "One" use to have the Harmony 880, but decided to get the One as it was on sale from Best Buy, gave my 880 to my mom. Who had to get use to it (Being that she was using the 640, or whatever)

And for me, it truly is the one. lol

Yeah, if someone is going to be paying full MSRP there's a chance I might recommend a one over a 720... Probably first I would try to find the best deal I could on both remotes and make my recommendation then... but if full MSRP is what you have to work with, then the drop in sturdyness from the 550 (or at least that it feels that way) was pretty dissapointing. Also the lack of A/B among some other stuff I typed up in my "upgraded harmony remotes" thread (or something like that)

Edit My full thoughts:
Upgraded to harmony 720!

Default I will never buy Harmony Again

After the experience I had with the Harmony 1000 I will never buy another Harmony or logitech product again. In my 12 years in the HT hobby the Harmony product was easily the worst I have ever had. The only thing worse then the product was how Harmony handled its customers.
