subwoofer question
Well after holding out for 6 months to find a great deal on a new receiver i finally bought the pioneer elite sc-05. My old receiver had a switched outlet in the back that automaticaly switched off my subwoofer when the receiver was shut off. The new elite does not have a switched outlet on the back.
My question is how do you have your sub hooked up so that it turns off automatically or do you just turn it on and off as needed?VIDEO SAMSUNG 56" DLP1080P; PS3 HARMONY ONE

Looks like that switched outlet is dissappearing off a number of new models.
In the past, I had a inexpensive Yamaha sub that went into standby by itself, it would kick in the first time any sound was sent to it. I left it on all the time as a result.Display: Epson HC 6100 Proj/106" Da-Lite High Power screen or Panasonic 50" Plasma

Most subs come with an Auto-ON feature that will kick in whenever it detects a signal.

From Yammy website:
SIGNAL SENSING ON/OFF
For convenience, the YST-SW215 has a signal sensing circuit. When the subwoofer detects an audio signal, it turns its power on. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off.-Wayne

You DO NOT want to plug a sub into a receivers outlet...Give the sub its own dedicated outlet...Both you and your sub will be happier...
That being said...I leave my sub on 24/7 because when not in use it uses no more power than a sub with auto-off...Mitsubishi 73733 DLP
