HDTV "Ready" Question
I have a Sony KP-57WS500 that can display 1080i, it says it is HDTV-Ready. Do I need a "decoder" or "set-top box" between an HD-DVD player and my TV? I thought a decoder was simply for picking up HD broadcasts, which I don't do. I only use this for movies. If I do need a decoder what do ya'll recommend?

No decoder would be necessary for HD-DVD playback. The decoder if needed would be necessary for over the air HD signals.

The whole HDTV ready thing was used a few years ago when HD was starting to catch on. It basically means that the display is HD resolution, but probably does not have an ATSC tuner or the ability to tune HD cable. So all you need is a HDMI to DVI cable (or component) and you're set, just as long as the DVI port on that TV is HDCP compliant, which it appears it is. http://news.sel.sony.com/en/press_ro...ease/8334.html"The war is not over"
