    Default GUI and alphanumeric??

    What's the difference between a graphical user interface vs alphanumeric?
    What would be examples of what both look like?
    Is it worth paying extra for the GUI?

    GUI = Windows
    Alphanumeric = MSDOS

    These are examples of what each look like, not what you would actually get.

    is there a site where i could see pictures of each? I'm talking about for my next receiver, I am interested in the Sherwood 972/872 and wondering if the GUI plus a few other specs in the 972 is worth $500 over the 872.

    A GUI is just easier to navigate through settings. If that's the only difference it's definitely not worth it unless you haven't really set up a receiver before.
