Default im ready for Onkyo 606

after selling my blu-ray movies (which is really hard thing todo but have to sacrifice sometimes in order to get what you want)now im ready to pull a triger on onkyo 606 to replace my old reciever came with the HTiB (HT-SR600) that i bought before.is there anyone in here have a coupon for Circuit City that i can use? just to cut the cost a little bit or is it better for me to buy it on Amazon?and is it true that it will degrade the PQ? because i'll be using my PS3 as a blu player.is there anything that i should be concern about this reciever before buying it?Thanks

$356.07 with free shipping on Amazon...and no tax depending on your state....That's a pretty good deal if you ask me. If you have an American Express card, use that...they have automatic extended warranty coverage.

As long as you are in the US, Amazon is easy to deal with
If you are up here in Canada, first getting it shipped is a pain and they won't offer warranty or return.

I'm speaking about my experiences with the 605. Yes the 605 degrades the video. I never believed it until I upgraded to the Denon 3808. I hope the 606 does not inherit the same traits as the previous generation. If you want to get it locally the I suggest you get the 606 at a circuit city and buy it from one of their sales manager. In my experience, I've gotten away with great discounts-even better than their employees

That is not true. The 605 does not degrade the video if you are using HDMI. The 605's HDMI ports act as a passthrough. You either had a defective 605 or you had something misconfigured on your receiver if you were using HDMI.

Initially, I thought that the 605 did a "pass through"- the Video signal goes through untouched via hdmi.... But there have been numerous threads about the video processing of the 605. Maybe I had a defective unit, who knows?? But its like there as a veil that has been lifted from my TV, video quality-wise npw that I have the Denon 3808. The faroudja chip of the 605 does have its limitations especially with analog that it down converts 1080i signal to 720p.

Given the price difference between the two, I'd expect a veil to be lifted too ...

Hahaha! I know right??!!! I was never bothered with the PQ with the 605 via hdmi to begin with anyway, until I saw what I was missing with the 3808! But its true, even my wife said that Cable TV looks better(everything is up converted to 1080p) and that's all she cares about
