Default Best mini-fridge?

I bought a cheap $49 mini-fridge and Walmart for my theatre room. However i can only describe it's cooling as barely adequate and it's a little noisy.v. Can anyone recommend a whisper quit small mini-fridge that can cool well. I don't need a freezer in it and that should save some money on the electricity.

lol

when i was looking for a mini fridge i found that most under 100 bucks were exactly that...coolers. theyre designed to KEEP stuff cool, not MAKE it cold which sucks. i saw one at a yard sale that was 10 bucks. it wasnt huge but it was good enough to hold at least a 12pk. my girlfriend told me not to get it so i killed her. jk but i didnt get it and i regret it everyday(wish i did kill her). jk again!

p.s. not sure about the noise factor on these but i saw one at home depot(a magic chef unit i believe) that was around the 150-180 mark.

I just got this one. Great for beverages. Obviously if youre planning on storing other things, this isnt a wise choice.

I have one that freezes stuff in it if you set it up too high. I bought it from my cousin for when I first went to college, and she had it when she first went to college, so it's really old (i.e., I don't want to go look up the model number for you, since it won't be made anymore).

Try getting one of the slightly bigger ones. You'll probably find that those do a little better job. I bought one for about $70 when I did research one summer (the dorms didn't come with fridges), and it did a good job keeping drinks cold. Unfortunately, I gave it to my roommate when we moved out of our house two years ago, since I didn't need it and she was giving me a couch (call it a trade), so I can't tell you what it was.

I think they all come with tiny freezer sections, although I wouldn't recommend using it. That same $70 fridge from above didn't really keep frozen stuff frozen, as I found out with a carton of ice cream...ick. They really aren't "freezers," so I don't think they're costing you much.

I thought about picking up a mini-fridge for my living room to keep beer in.

But then I realized that I'm in an apartment and my kitchen is 5 feet away from my living.

Damn my brain for interfering with my cool ideas!!!

check out sears.com I purchased one last year and it will freeze cans if you set it low enough. Oh and good luck finding one that is whisper quiet, I don't think one like that exists.

I just read an article...probably in one of my zillion issues of Consumer Reports that compared Mini Fridges and I promise to post some of the info if I manage to find it...but the long and short of it is that some mini fridges both suck *and* use almost as much energy as a normal sized fridge...so scrutinizing the energy usage is very important.
