Yeah, you need to request it in the feedback forum... But don't expect they'll just give you a subforum... It took a lot of effort to get the BD-Live & Extras sub forum in BD software.

I really don't think we need a sub-forum just for PJs. Why not just turn this thread into a sticky?

that's supprisingly harder, since they have a set limit on the # of stickies a forum can have.

I don't think there's enough people that have projectors to start a forum. Besides, projectors are for douschebags.

Hey! Don't go talkin about JVC projector folk!
Some of them are even nice enough fraternize with us mere mortals who don't have JVC projectors!

Panasonic AE 3000 vs JVC/DLA-HD350
Check this out: http://www.robschoice.com/top_picks/best_projector.aspx
I have read so many raves (well deserved) about the JVC I started to get an inferiority complex.
I guess I should relax, No upgrade for now.
I don't know who Rob is but I admire his taste in projectors...My Theater:

He forgot to mention that all 3 Panel LCD projectors have color uniformity issues and dust blobs... That's the only reason why I switched. If you are viewing in a dark room there is no comparison. I've seen both in action. The JVC's produce the best black levels period... and all without the use of a dynamic iris. It's really hard to explain but when you watch the JVC in action it's so natural. My Epson didn't come close to that.

Wow, I normally feel pretty well read when it comes to the usual home theater components, but reading a lot of this info on FP's is just crazy.. I honestly dont know what I am reading half the time..
Bujee, first I would like to thank you for your time and showing me where to look for info. Now that I have read on FP's I would just like to know what some of you here reccomend to someone who is just getting into the Projector game.. I am looking to spend around 2,500 for both the projector and screen, but what additional costs should I factor in, ie mounts for screen and projo ect.. I have controlled lighting, my walls are a light blue, the room is roughly 16x18 with a pop out. I cant fit the screen up against the wall as I would like to have it come out in front of my curent tv. Hmmm, is there anything else I should look into?

Lots of choices here.
How a screen are you planning?
If you go with a electric screen larger than 84" you might want to consider a tensioned one. Sooner or later all 100" or greater pulldown or electric screens get waves. A non issue for some but a deal breaker for others. I went through three 100" pull down screens before I went with a fixed screen. The best prices for quality (IMHO) screens are Elite. Here's the link: http://www.elitescreens.com/?l2s_trk=reviews1
Let's assume that your room is no more than 20 ft deep.
Let's also assume the most expensive case scenario and your screen costs $ 800.
That leaves you with $1700 for a projector. In that range you can get a Sanyo Z700 http://www.projectorcentral.com/sany...tor_review.htm
You can put the projector on a shelf in the back of the room for $20
If you spend more on a screen you may want to consider the Panasonbic AX200. It is a 720p projector but I own one myself and i think it is amazing.
The AX200 can be had for $950, http://www.projectorcentral.com/pana..._projector.htm
Leaving you money left over for a bigger, electric, tensioned screen.
It's tough buying both at the same time because only you can decide what screen size is big enough without being too big. The best way to do that is shoot at a blank wall and zoom in and out until it feels right, measure the image and go from there. Rule of thumb is plan to sit 1.4 x the screen width.
That's my first two cents. Others may want to chime in.My Theater:

Good advice ^^^^^
I'm really enjoying my "best of both worlds" setup. My room is big enough that I have my Sony 57" rear projection TV in the corner, and the 100" fixed screen in the center. Most TV viewing is on the Sony, but shows like "24" and American Idol get the 100" projector. I use an HDMI splitter to feed both / either. Last night I watch "Sex Drive" blu-ray rental on the Sony - for medioce movies like that, the PQ on the Sony is more than adequate, and it saves bulb & projector life. But earlier in the week I watch Dances With Wolves German blu-ray import (region B locked) on the 100" projection screen over two nights, and loved every minute of it.

Even though the Sony looks really angled back their in the corner, I have a recliner in the corner behind where I took the photo, so sitting their the screen is straight on. Trivia for the day: that Native American looking thing to the left of the fixed screen is actually an antique Persian camel bag - like a saddle bag for horses, only bigger and made for use on camels. And I usually have the speaker wires tucked under the carpet, but I'm having to use speaker level inputs for the sub-woofer temporarily until I get the receiver with failed sub-woofer pre-out repaired. -

You should buy my AE3000. Less than 150 hours on it and you'll get $400-500 off.

As for screens, I wouldn't spend more than $300 shipped. You can get a nice Da-Lite high power or an Elite electric one for that price range. For your room you have an ideal space for shelf mounting. Personally I like shelf mounting best but thats just me. Get an HDMI splitter as well, then just split the the HDMI out from your receiver to your TV/PJ. I have the one from Monoprice and I really like it.JVC RS2 / Pioneer Kuro 5010

Here is my budget home theater...There is only so much thatcan be done in an apartment, but for the 13x14 room, I'd like to think I maximized its potential. The only reason I went with Energy TWR's for the rears is because the smaller FPS or SAT speakers would have cost me more...go figure. This whole thing ran me $2500, minus the two home theater chairs. They are electric recline and added $1000..the seats are incredibly comfortable and the removable swinging trays make a perfect spot for mouse/keyboard when I build my new gaming computer. The video server is in another room to decrease noise. I have 4.5 TB of moves (most in HD with full True HD or DTS HD MA sound. When watching movies, it is virtually silent based on the location of the projector....BTW, the screen is 100" at 13'.
