I doubt there is much difference between the AE3000 and the AE 2000 except for frame interpolation. That alone is reason for an upgrade in my mind. The difference between 6000:1 and 60000:1 wasn't mind blowing either. I could tell a difference but it didn't make my jaw drop.
Regarding the chairs, I bought the middle ones from a place out here in southern California, called Linders. They don't have those any more. The one's they have now are motorized Berkliners. If you can get to one they seem to have the best prices. They are on the web as well. The ones on the outside were from the discontinued area at "hole in the wall" furniture place I found when I was looking for something else.My Theater:

Thanks for the props on the seats. The ones up front I bought at a local furniture/appliance store, Jeff Lynch. I can't remember what brand they were. They were like $650 each or so.
The back row are Berkliner. I got them at Costco (of all places) for $1300 for the three of them.
The ones up front are WAAAYYY more comfy, very plush. However the ones in the back get more wow factor from my guests as they have motorized recliners (front ones do not).JVC RS1x w/ a 118" 16x9 screen

Drop down screen masking solution
The next episode in the never ending saga of my mini theater.
I couldn't decode whether I wanted my screen to be 16:9 or 2.35:1 so I bought two 4:3 screens and masked and painted them to be one of each. Have a look.
Here is my screen housing. I'm going to paint it and dress it up a little with crown moulding when I decide on a color for the room.

Here is my 2.35:1 screen. It is in the back. In retrospect I probably should have put it in front., but oh well...

Here is a shot of my 16:9 screen dropping in front of the 2.35:1.....

Here is the 16:9 in place...

And finally here are both screens going up and revealing my computer monitor.

The enclosure was made from left over wood from the kitchen island - cost $0
Its basically a U shape cover that slides over my 19 inch brackets.
the brackets extend out off the wall (my condo has radiant Heating so i can drill into the ceiling). Which brings me to the Projector placement - For now the unit is siting under my coffee table (which i hate). But ive build a Triangle shaped extension that come off the wall for that aswell (Still waiting approval for the lady) she says its ugly.
I post pic , when and if i get the go ahead - pray for me

You can see why its still not done - I want to put a cover on the bottom, so you cant see the brackets - I just want to leave a 3 inch gap so the screen can slide downDisplays: Samsung LN46B610 LCD 46inch/Optoma hd65 projector 92inch

nicely done.
I never thought to put the projector under the coffee table. Is it mounted to the coffee table or on a stand?
I may try that with my short throw projector and a portable screen if the Lakers get to the championships.
That way I can use the coffee table for snacks. My Theater:

That should work well. How do you get the HDMI from the reciever to the projector without the girlfriend freaking out about the cord across the floor?
How far do you have to have your coffee away from your screen?
I tried it with my short throw projector and I ran out of space. I have to put it on top of my coffee table or move everything back another three feet.My Theater:

the hdmi cord is 45 feet, running along the baseboard.
I suffer from a short throw aswell, which is why i want to hand my proj
the table setup is ok, but if you bump into it, there is always the worry of hurting the projo, plus i have to make adjustments every time its move.

Any thoughts on replacing my AE3000 with an Optoma HD80?
I love my AE3000 but I don't have a 2.35 screen and doubt I will ever get around to making or installing one. So I really don't feel like I'm taking advantage of its biggest feature. Besides that people usually say DLP looks sharper, and I'll be honest I'm a sucker for sharpness.JVC RS2 / Pioneer Kuro 5010

I don't have a 2.35:1 screen either. In my opinion the best feature of the AE3000 is frame interpolation. Either way, I don't believe the HD 80 will give you your money's worth. It's an older projector. If you have money to burn I'd recommend going with their newest projector. It's got lens shift and a lot of other features not included on the HD80

Okay this is kind of nuts but here goes. I just bought a BenQ W5000 for a good price. Do I?:
a) compare both projectors and sell whichever I don't like
or
b) buy a receiver and set up a dedicated theater in a unused bedroom. (I already have an unused 5.1 Bic system ready to go)
Bujee you have two PJ setups. Do you think its worth it?JVC RS2 / Pioneer Kuro 5010

My main theater is in a bonus room area that does not have a door. I can get 98% darkness during the day with a curtain but when my wife has home and garden channel on downstairs it kind of spoils the movie.
My mini theater has a door. I'm sitting 7ft from a 77 " screen. So for me it is a nice escape. I also enjoy the thrill of the hunt. My big theater is finished, my mini theater has lots more work to be done. With no WAF the posiibilities are endless.
I say go for it. (Just remember I may have a problem with conspicuous consumption so I may not be the one to ask.)My Theater:
