    Default Audio Configuration Question

So I've got a bit of a problem....

My receiver is an old Onkyo TX-8011, yes a two channel with only RCA (red/white) jacks in the back. Now for my A30 this is fine because it has the corresponding outputs, but for everything else it is a problem.

I am in the process of purchasing a PS3 so I don't have money to get another receiver. But I would like to somehow get audio from my 360 and PS3 to my receiver. Fortunately the 360 has the red/white but they aren't long enough, so is there some kind of extender for that problem?

PS3 time...I plan on running HDMI to my tv, would it be possible to run the normal A/V cables (specifically A) to the back of my receiver to get video through HDMI and Audio through normal (non-HD) hookups? Or is there a way to transform the "Optical Out" to an "Analog In"?

Lastly, I thought it might be ok to run them both to the tv, then run my "Digital Coaxial" to RCA through some sort of switch/cable change.

    Any helps is greatly appreciated!!

I've been told some TV's wont do an analoge to digital conversion... That said, my toshi DLP has no problem outputting PCM for incomming analoge signals. Give it a try, it might just work out.

    Edit
BTW, if this process works you can do the same thing for your 360. Otherwise hit up radio shack and tell them what you need, they'll hook you up (yes mono price is cheaper, but ratshack will be easier for you). Just try not to walk out of the store with a new cellphone and dish

you can hook up your ps3 via HDMI to tv and your audio (via optical) to receiver. video will goto tv. audio will go to receiver.

for the 360 there IS an extender. sold at radioshack or even home depot/lowes.

Alternatively, you can use the AV cables that came with the PS3 for audio while using HDMI for video, since that's what the OP was asking for.
