agreed.....

If there is nothing on the extra from the Onkyo that you NEED, spend the extra for the Pioneer, IMO.

Get the VSX-92TXH. It has a lot more flexibility.

You get preamp outputs on all channels so if you wanted to add a separate amp later on you can. It has a multi channel input as well. You may never need it, but it's nice to have just in case.

The Pioneer also has both Sirius and XM capabilities so you have both options if you want to do satellite radio.

It also comes with a cable to hook up an iPod to it without having to purchase and iPod dock. You get all of the meta data on screen for the iPod and the receivers remote will operate the iPod.

The amps in the VSX-92TXH are very robust as well. It handles most speakers pretty easily.

We sell quite a few Elite receivers and they are really good receivers.

Aside from the preamp out (which I doubt the 606 has but I'm not sure) I'm fairly sure the 606 has basically everything else since my 605 also has every featuer you listed other than the pream out... Not to say my 605 is every bit as good as the pioneer, just saying if we're talking features then the 606 is very well matched.

I would definitely get the Pioneer.
It was released at $1500. not that $$ means everything, but getting this for $799 which I'm assuming you are talking about is a fucking steal.
I'm maybe a little biased because I just ordered mine from an Atlanta HiFiBuys 2 days ago, and am going to pick it up in the next week.
Every review I have read has been extremely positive.
hopefully it will marry my Kuro and we will all live happily ever after.

Crazz.....it's more than just features. The AMP section on the Elite is also much better and more power per channel (130x7)

I checked on Onkyo's website before I posted. All of the things I listed, the Onkyo doesn't have.

I'd think any audiophile would vote for Pioneer Elite models over standard Onkyo models any day! Now, if you were in the Onkyo Integra line that's a different story.

Pioneer has their Elite line, Sony has the ES line and Onkyo has the Integra line. Most of which are designed more for the A/V mided people instead of big box store consumers.

By stepping into the Pioneer, you are getting more power, better speaker handling, everything hifiguymi stated. But, you're getting better room calibration (on board). You'll be getting better amps, should be getting better cooling and better DACs.

But the best feature with a good A/V receiver is headway to upgrade your home theater. I don't think the Pioneer has any networking support. But neither does the Onkyo 606. Either way, the Pioneer will be worlds better than an entry level Onkyo receiver. ...and if you're paying a $100 extra, you're making a wise decision to take that step!
