    Default Onkyo TX-SR805 and S-video

I have recently bought myself the above Onkyo amp (is a great piece of kit). I love how I can just use one remote now for Amp, TV, Sky and DVD (shame PS3 is bluetooth haha).

But when I connect the Sky box (ie uk's version of cable) to the amp via S-video it doesn't fill the whole screen, like it does when connected to the TV via the tv's S-video in. I have played about with some of the settings on the 805 but I can't get it to fill the screen. All my other devices fill the screen (although PC and PS3 are 1080P and DVD is 720P all via HDMI). Is there anything I can do? The amp is connected to the TV by HDMI.

does the image appear distorted? "doesn't fill the whole screen" is much, much too vague.

My first guess is that your TV can stretch non-widescreen images to fit as long as they're not above a standard def resolution. The 805 has a deinterlacer built in it for non-hd video. So it's scaling the S-Video signal slightly. Turn that off in the menu, and your tv should get the native S-Video signal. If that doesn't work, you may just have to run an s-video from the monitor out and just have it on a seperate input.

EDIT: Most Sony's I've encountered though can usually stretch any resolution and you just need to press the "wide mode" key on your remote to allow it to stretch the image to fill the screen. Being on the HDMI connection, the TV may just be defaulted to wide-screen mode. Just don't forget to press it again when you go back to something that's HD

    Hope this helps!
