Samsung HL-T5687S DLP rear projector will not be added to the list since it displays 1080P/24 at 60HZ when one can get it to work with a BLU-RAY player

Quote
“The Samsung will accept a 1080p/24fps input, but it converts it internally to 1080p/60fps prior to display. And it will not accept a 1080p/24fps input from Samsung's own BD-P1200 Blu-ray player, a trait it shares with the Samsung LN-T5265F flat panel LCD.
It did accept a 1080p/24 input from the Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 BD player, but its 24fps performance with that player was unsatisfactory. It skipped a frame or two every few minutes, which caused the image to stutter. I sent 1080p/60 to the set for all of my HD disc viewing. “

Update on the Mitsubishi HC6000 Front Projector

In the March 2008 Home Theater magazine on page 46 there is confirmation in a review that the Mitsubishi HC6000 will display 1080P/24 at 48HZ which verifies that the information in the November 2007 Widescreen review magazine is correct regarding this model.

Quote from page 46 of March 2008 Home Theater magazine

“The HDMI inputs accept both 1080P/60 and 1080P/24, and the projector outputs 1080P/48 when receiving a 1080P/24 signal, for smoother, less juddery presentation.”

thanks for the info man and i'm proud to join you as an owner of the Sony KDL 40XBR4!!! I was online all morning trying 2 see which one i wanted and after you gave me that info that sealed it!!! The fiance wanted the samsung cause she likes how shiny it is... I had been looking at that tv for the longest at bestbuy cause they always have the blu-ray disney demo disc playing and the pq is breathtaking(and i normally never use this word)! When i got it home and set me and the fiance finished putting together the new tv stand i had 2 put in what i think is the flagship movie on King Kong!!! All i can say is wow and i'm glad i stepped up from the addon 2 get the A35 for the 1080/24p and 5.1 analog outputs!!! My hidef movies on both formats look flawless and i can tell you now that i no longer have 2 look at the tv section when i go 2 bestbuy or circuit city anymore!!! Once again i wanna thank you guys for all your help and it's really great 2 talk and share info with people that care about stuff as much as you do!

Panasonic Plasma’s added to the list

TH-50PZ800 (Spring 2008)
TH-46PZ800 (Spring 2008)
TH-42PZ800 (Spring 2008)
TH-65PZ850 (Fall 2008)
TH-58PZ850 (Fall 2008)
TH-50PZ850 (Spring 2008)
TH-46PZ850U (Spring 2008)

The 80 and 85 series will not be added since it appears they refresh 1080P/24 at 60HZ.

Here is some more information on the Sony series coming out. The none 120HZ Sony’s being released like the V4100 series need further verification to verify they are using 48HZ like the PC magazine mentions. I wish manufactories would label stuff like 48HZ, 72HZ, etc to make things easy.

I do not know the answer to that, you would need to contact Samsung. I have seen high-end front projectors get firmware updates to add 1080P/24 support but most of the time flat panels and rear projectors do not receive firmware updates to add 1080P/24. Sometimes the hardware in the rear projector or flat panel can not support multiplies of the original frame and a firmware update to add that feature is impossible on some models.

Here is a link to the 2008 HDTV Technology Face Off article

It is amazing that the Pioneer PDP-5080HD 720P (768P actual) Plasma display has a better picture quality compared to most 1080P displays. The ANSI contrast ratio is so good on the 720P Pioneer that it provides more overall detail to the picture quality compared to most other brands of 1080P displays witrhout the need of resolution since most people do not seat close enough to a 1080P to see the diffrence.

Update on my XBR4 situation...

I returned it! I started to nice the colors smear a little bit on blu ray and hd dvd movies, and during games, the image blurred.. a lot. I looked on AVS forum and found a thread about the issue. Seems like I am not alone. I ended up getting store credit and I invested in the (much coveted) Pioneer Kuro 5080.

In the process of breaking it in..

Thanks for the information, I do not like the picture quality of LCD. The Pioneer Plasma flat panels are the best quality compared to any other current flat panel on the market. All other flat panels are measured against the reference KURO black levels. I hope you enjoy your Pioneer display, their products are also long lasting products that are made in Japan.

Anyone know if there are any DLP's on the market that can correctly process 1080P@24FPS?

No thank YOU for all your help so far. This thread has helped me make my decision. The XBR4 actually had a really nice PQ, but I was afraid the ghosting/smearing issue would only get worse. I got this Pioneer 5080 set up and even though it's a lower res, and even though it is bigger, and even though I'm only sitting 6 and a half feet away from it...

It somehow looks more detailed than the 40" XBR4 I had.

There are many ceiling mounted DLP Front projectors on the list that correctly display 1080P/24 at multiplies of the original frame. Now if your looking for a rear projector DLP so far I do not know of any that correctly display 1080P/24.All the reviews so far mention they are using a 3:2 pulldown process.

Huh, oh well perhaps with the new 240Hz chipset coming down the pipe (per CES) we should see some TVs with this capability (assuming they'd don't reserve this for front projectors only).

Samsung LN-T4069F and LN-T4669F LCD flat panels have been added to the list

The Samsung 69F series is exactly the same as the 71F series when it come to the true 5:5 pulldown feature. When auto motion plus is turned completely off each 24fps frame is repeated 5 times and refreshed on the screen at 120HZ without interpolating of new frames. True 5:5 pulldown. Since there is no professional review on the 69F series that mentions this true 1080P/24 feature yet the link on the main list is currently pointing to the review on the 71F series so that one can reference how the Samsung Auto Motion plus works.

JVC DLA-HD100 LCOS Front Projector refresh rate has been verified

The new April 2008 Home Theater magazine has verified that the JVC DLA-HD100 will refresh 1080P/24 material at 96HZ and 60HZ material is refreshed at 120HZ. This $8,000 projector is one of the best front projectors on the market for picture quality. The black levels and contrast ratio are better then most Front Projectors under $15,000 and the JVC will do this without an auto iris.

Also, like the DLA-HD1, the DLA-HD100 accepts 1080p/24 sig- nals and displays them at 96 hertz with no 3:2 pulldown. And it displays 1080p/60 content at 120 Hz. The processing solution here is from Gennum, and it's terrific.”
