Onkyo HT-SR600 assistance
Hey guys, I'm an audio newb, and my wife just brought me home a HTIB. I haven't run anything through it yet.
I've got a 360 (without HDMI)/ with Addon
A HD Receiver from the cable company and thats about it
I've talke to acouple of friends and they each told me something different.
One said to just run everything through the tv and then an audio cable from the tv to the receiver. That to me just sounds like I will be missing some of the qualities of my audio.
The other one, whom I think I agree with says to run everything through the receiver and then a picture cable to the tv.
My only thing with that is, Im concerned about loosing picture quality.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

Run everything through the receiver, using the component cables of both the 360 and the cable box. That way, you only have one cable line running to your TV.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash.
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Not necessarily as that particular model lacks any upconversion capabilities. It's a pass-through only, which means that it functions only as a video switcher, eliminating the need to change the video input on your TV every time you want to watch HD-cable or play the 360. Simply connect the optical cable from both the cable box and the 360 to the receiver, as well as the component cables of both and enjoy.
