    Default HD cablebox question

I recently got an HD cable box in my bedroom recently that replaced a standard Def cable box which was connected to a computer with windows xp media center, and it worked like a charm. So here is my question, can windows media center record standard Def channels coming out of the HiDef box, because right now the playback is horrible choppy (watching live TV), and the new HiDef TV is giving me so copy right errors (over the component connections). I am not trying to do anything crazy, I just want what I had before, the ability to record SD channels.

    thanks

How do you have it hooked up?

The coaxial cable out of the box into the coaxial for the computer card and out of that through the standard crappy rca jacks to tv. I am just wondering if the
hidef box is giving the computer problems, which would be odd since on SD channels the box says 480i on the display so I don't think it would be any different than a SD cable box.

Skip the cable box. Get an inexpensive coaxial splitter (under 2 dollars, I swear) and have the cable go into the box and split into the HTPC.
