TrueHD reciever...PLEASE HELP!!!
I have finally fully emerced my self in the HD generation and am now looking to buy a TrueHD reciever...This is a catoagory that i know absolutly Nothing about..hell..i dont even know who makes truehd recievers..besides onkyo.
At the moment i have a: Onkyo TX-SR803...it has 7.1 and hdmi..but not trueHD. I saw another model..the TX-SR875 made by onkyo and its the most recent trueHD they make. But i want to know about other Home Audio Makers..such as Bose or Sony, and whether they make true hd or not.
SO PLEASE!! Give me some advice to give me the best TrueHD experience possible.
Thanks,
Ben.

Just looking at your signature, I see you are using a xbox360, which is what I'm using, honesty you can't get TrueHD from it, you are just gonna get a regular Dolby digital 5.1 mix. So unless you want to buy a toshiba hd dvd player you won't be able to get the sound. Thats what I'm gonna do, but I'm waiting for the 3rd generation models to come out, which should be october. I got an onkyo 705 which has all the decoders and it frekin sweet, but I know there's a pioneer elite and some Denon and Harmon Kardon's coming out.....
Main Setup: Mitsubishi 63" DLP/Panny BD30/HD-A35/Onkyo 705/ Sony 7.1 speaker setup.
My Blu's: 127 My Red's: 66 Check out my Collection and Top Movie Lists Here! http://filmcrave.com/profile_home.php?id=3310 -

Here's the info on Toshiba's 3rd gen players coming in october.
Place like Amazon might have them a little cheaper than MSRP.

I'm contenplating a new reciever myself and going back and forth between the Onkyo 605 and 705. I think I want the 705 for the extra HDMI port but IDK if it's worth $250 for 1 extra HDMI.
I might wait another few months until it goes down in price a little more. -

Im getting this receiver myself:apparently it even does DTS HD!! great deal for that price
http://www.gosale.com/4932026/onkyo-tx-sr605-71-channel
2 HDMI ports are enough for me, ill be getting a PS3 after that during tax refunds, and im gonna get the HD-A3 player, since its a cheap price
Is the 5 free discs deal still gonna be available next year? and does this also apply to the ps3 for blu rays?? cant wait, ill finnaly be completly upgraded to HD video and audio! -

ok first of all....the 5 free HD DVDs deal is up on 9/30. You're recipt must be before/on that date and you must mail in your rebate by 10/30
Second....Read this http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh..._Necessary/853
Third after reading you'll see that any HDMI reciever capable of LPCM will give you TrueHD and DTS-MA. If I'm not mistaken HD DVDs must be authored in Basic mode or something to even bitstream the audio and none of the currect ones are authored this way(I'm not the smartest person when it comes to this, I'm just relaying what everyone has told me) All HD DVD players can decode TrueHD (even the 360 it's just there's no way to get it out since the 360 only supports 2 channel PCM). I believe all other HD DVD players can send the PCM via HDMI to your reciever.
Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong....I'm just trying to help. Feel free to pat me on the back though if I'm right
I have a question for others though...When TrueHD is decoded in the player and sent as PCM does the PCM track keep the aspects of the TrueHD (dialogue normalization and all that jazz)?? -

Thank..you. That seriously made me decide to not get a trueHD track reciever.
good job man. I uess that now makes this thread useless.
But on another note..i will still be getting a A30 hddvd player. i wwant an hdmi enabled player and i have heard it has better picture than my add-on. is that true.
ow..and the reason they probably are ending that offer is to start a new one when the a30, a35 get released a day after it ends.

I'd go with the HD-XA2, that's what I'm getting. It's still Toshiba's flagship HD DVD player. It's supposed to be getting an update for 24fps (I read is out but some people were having trouble d/ling it) and I don't know if it's in the same update but it will be getting bitstream audio (the 3rd gen A-35 has these features) but the XA2 has the Reon chip which from what I've read gives you one of the best damn upcoverting players out there.
Also you don't have to steer away from the Onkyo's. I'm seriously considering the 705. It has an awesome price & 3 HDMI inputs which I've yet to find on anything else in this price range. I looked into the...
Yamaha 6090
Denon 2807
Denon 2808
and Onkyo's
The Onkyo's and Denon 2808 have TrueHD. Denon is very highly regarded if IllegalPrelude sees this post he'll tell you or you could just PM him (hope that's ok Illegal) The 2808 is $1200 but I'm sure it's worth every penny despite only having 2 hdmi inputs. -
