Forget Sed Tv's!
Ok I'm checking out the Samsung site to see if any new LCD models came out; enter the LN-4081F
. So I'm reading some of the specs...
3 HDMI inmputs(ok)
120Hz motion blur control (awsome)
100,000:1 contrast ratio (WTF)?!
Yes folks that is no typo, 100,000:1 contrast ratio. A feature that was announced for SED tv's back in CES 2006 is now a reality for LCD tv's (Samsung that is) no less. The order has already been placed for this. can't wait to get it

I haven't seen it in person yet but from those pics I have seen it's looking like one nice TV.

Link please. The highest contrast display that I saw on the Samsung site was 15,000:1...didn't see 100,000:1.

The 100,000:1 contrast ratio is just an arbitrary BS number anyway. It might look good, but not because of some stupid marketing number.

Update folks, just picked up the weekly paper and a Samsung promotional catalog was inside; no bs when I say this , the LN-T4681F (I assume this is their flagship series LCD tv's) 500,000:1 contrast ratio! And depending on where you get it, it's under $4,000. I still got my order for the LN-T4081F which is also has impressive specs. Just in time for NFL, NHL, and the NBA I might add

Yeah the 8 series has local dimming LED's so it has really black blacks not the washed out milky stuff we get on most lcd's. Can't wait till I can afford something of this caliber.
