    Default quick audio question!!!

having the HD A20 player for True HD sound will I get the same lossless quality out of the yamaha 6090 with PCM (which I can get for $750) or will I have to wait and spend the extra money for the pioneer elite VSX-91TXH for $1,199.99 which will support true hd. Just wanted to know since there is a big price difference between the two. Just wondering if the audio would sound the same and what the big differences would be. thanks guys

The receiver won't be decoding the audio anyway so it won't matter.

Having the player decode the TrueHD track to PCM is going to sound the same as having the receiver decode the TrueHD track. Actually I thought there was some issue with the way the players have to decode then recode the audio to output TrueHD or DTS MA because of the audio from special features/popup menus and so it was better just to have it send PCM anyways.

You may want to spend an extra 250 over the Yamaha and get the Pioneer vsx 9120. It can handle DolbyTrueHD and DTS-HD, so you won't have to worry about conversion to PCM.

The player will still send the signal as PCM stream since there is not a HD DVD or Blu-ray player that will send Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD to the receiver for the receiver to decode it.

yeah I fully understand what you are saying which is great because it confused me a lot, but I found out today that I can actually get that pioneer for $714 which is less than before (apparently we can order from the manufacturers and still use our discounts which is awsome) so I will get it and hopefully that will future proof me since it will have HDMI 1.3 anyways. Thanks again for your help
