Got a new receiver this week. Nothing fancy but it had what I was looking for.

That thing actually looks pretty sleek. How is the profile of it, is it fairly compact? I have an Onkyo 805 which is a great receiver and was one of their better ones available a few years ago. However, the thing is a monster - it's HUGE. I'm thinking of selling it and either getting one of their 6## or something else. Basically, something smaller. Right now, it's sitting out in the open in the front room and just makes my setup look a bit more imposing than it needs to.

It's a bit smaller. I actually used it to replace on Onkyo I bought a few years ago myself and was really surprised by the size when I saw it. Width is about the same but it's a little shorter and much shallower.
For comparison:
Onkyo 805 - 7.6" H x 17.1" W x 18.1" D
Yamaha 373 - 6” H x 17-1/8” W x 12-3/8” D -

If I can sell my current tv and stand for a decent amount, I plan to get the Epson 5010.

I picked up the Pioneer SP-C21 center designed by Andrew Jones, but I ended up taking it back, even though I loved the sound.
It was almost 8" high, and blocks the lowermost 1" of the KURO screen (can't have that, you know).Pioneer Elite Pro111FD 50" plasma

I'm helping a family upgrade their "theater room". I put that in quotes because I have trouble calling a Florida room a "theater room". All of the walls have windows! Two of the walls are made almost entirely of windows. (It's an "enclosed" Florida room with a high ceiling that probably used to be a really nice back porch. And it is a really nice Florida room. But a home theater? We'll see...)
The Yamaha RX-V663 receiver either didn't survive the move or doesn't want to play well with their new Panasonic TV. Either way - time for an upgrade. For the moment, they're limping along with components plugged directly into the TV and sound coming out of the TV speakers (the horrors!).
I looked around today and settled on last year's Pioneer - VSX-1121-K. After research, I prefer last year's 1121 to this year's VSX-1122-K. This year's 1122 seems to me to be a stripped down/cheaper version of the last year's 1121. And when I found that Amazon was selling the 1121 via their warehouse in "good used" condition - for $363.03 - I decided to get one - and a SquareTrade 1 year warranty. This is the first time I've tried either approach (Amazon Warehouse and SquareTrade) - but this looks like the deal to do it on.
I was about to pull the trigger on this year's Pioneer VSX-1122-K from JR.com - since everyone else wants $599 but JR is on a sale-spree at only $449 - but then further research and Amazon's "good used" price of $363 for VSX-1121-K sold me on the 1121. It should arrive by Tuesday, so hopefully we can set it up and play with it on the 4th! -

I finally caved and picked up a Harmony One today at BestBuy for 151.99. Only $1 more than Amazon. I had it set up relatively quick to my surprise. LOVE IT!! I bought one before but never opened it cause I thought it would be a hassle, and returned it. What a douche. This is the best thing I've bought for myself in a long time!

Hey, I have a silly question. When you go into a brick and mortar store to either shop or definitely pick up something, do you usually tell them when you've seen something cheaper online?
I ask because it's hard to believe they wouldn't price match a dollar on that Harmony.Pioneer Elite Pro111FD 50" plasma

Yes, you would want to. But, in this case, there is a method to my madness. I am planning to move out the Polks that I am running as rears, and moving the Klipsch Reference to the rears.
An update to my progress - I just picked up the new 2012 SPC22, and I think it will work out better than last year's model. My plan is to add 2 more for my fronts, giving me that all-important timbre-matched front soundstage.Pioneer Elite Pro111FD 50" plasma

If it's best buy, I don't bother (which is usually why I dont shop at best buy). Their price-match policy is that it must be available at a lower price at a local store, and that other local store must actually have the item in stock.
Of course, whether your Bestbuy strictly adheres to that policy might vary by the person you deal with, but that's the policy and it has been my experience with most stores that the managers stick to it. I've even been in some stores where they'll call that other store (e.g. Target) and ask if the item is in stock.
Going through all those hoops simply isnt worth it. Bestbuy is garbage.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword
