For single light source 3-D projectors in the movie theater (non IMAX dual projectors) 144fps triple flash technology is used 100% of the time since 50% of the people see a flicker at 96Hz (48Hz each eye). The JVC projectors uses only 120Hz with frame interpolation of 2-D signals. The JVC projectors use both 96Hz repeating frame method for both 2-D and 3-D signals.
Yes it is possible that the REDRAY will do 96fps. Speaking with the company they told me more specs are to come on their website in the future. The commercial Sony 4K SXRD with a special RealD attachment becomes a dual light source projector like a IMAX projector at 48Hz (24Hz each eye). Maybe REDRAY projector might be able to operate at native 24Hz each eye with no black time (no need to triple flash).
When this REDRAY product is released the review might be very interesting. -

All I can keep thinking is that after so many years on this site, I finally have a reason to root for red to be successful.

This certainly is an interesting way to approach front projection. Since manufacturers have been extremely slow, and (it seems to me) reluctant to actively persue LED based technologies, there was bound to be a manufacturer that stepped up to get rid of the lamp issue altogether.
Still, we need something between $1,000 and $10,000 that is of decent quality, and I would expect that when this actually comes out the door it will be over $10K to get into consumers hands.AV Integrated - Theater, whole house audio, and technology consultation during the build and installation process in the Washington DC, Northern VA, and MD area. -

This is excellent news, especially since my salary will triple next year with a career change, I should be able to afford one of these babies.

They mention up to a 15ft screen, so I'm sure it's bright enough for my 12ft hi power. Any indications what contrast would be like? I haven't heard much about laser tech, but I'd imagine it should have the inky blacks us JVC users have come to expect. And with no lamps to worry about, I would be in heaven!HT gear: JVC RS46 3D projector with 147in Hi Power screen, Klipsch RF-7 based 9.1 system, Emotiva XPA5 5 channel amp, Pioneer 1120 reciever, Oppo BDP-95(region free), Xbox 360, Toshiba XA2
