I'd say that's a great idea if he's not averse to doing some wiring and drywall.

Yes, and also it is someone you trust who appreciates the purpose of the job.

    Thanks for the comments guys!

Regarding the ceiling mount it was a bit of a pain and took a whole weekend and possibly 50 nail holes because we had trouble finding studs and realized there weren't many on the ceiling.
We were able to find 2 so we used wood screws on these and then I put about 4 molly butterfly screw things in the drywall. My drywall is 1/2" thick so it's alright.
My father-in-law is an engineer and well versed in construction so it helped a lot. Honestly once the mount pole was hung I put my weight on it and it's not going anywhere, if anything the actual projector mount seems like it would go before the ceiling mount.

    Now re: seats.
I didn't sit in them for very long but they are very comfy, like I'm going to pass out comfy. I can't really speak for durability since I've just had them for a bit but Palliser is one of the best known brands so you probably can't go wrong.

Also, I'm almost set on my decision for speakers
    LR: Paradigm Studio 60
    C: Paradigm Studio CC-590
    Surrounds: Axiom QS8
    Sub: HSU VTF3-MK4

I went with a very similar mounting strategy (although I built a custom shelf for the projector to sit on). I needed it to be sturdy enough to survive reasonable earthquakes, so I used plenty of molly's. Sucker isn't going anywhere.

That's awesome dude. I really want those seats and I'm HOPING my theater is wide enough for two three-seaters. I'm jealous that you can easily fit a four-seater. You're going to find that people are going to be AMAZED by your theater, and you'll be having the in-laws and friends over for dinner and a movie a lot. Four of those bad boys wont be enough eventually, so (like me) eventually you'll start scouring internet forums and looking at people who built a custom riser and setup another row of seating. I'll probably get two 3-seaters that are similar to the model you have; those are gorgeous and look like you could easily sleep in them.

Me being the first to be amazed
My nephew is already calling me every time we buy a new piece of equipment to know if it's finished and if he should come over.
I was lucky indeed to be able to fit 4 wide because doing 2 rows would not have been possible, or at the very least not great.
I can barely fit the 4 though and originally I was going to do curved but I had to do straight in order to leave enough room on each side and as is I have about 15" which isn't great but enough.
I already told people that if we get more than 4 at once I'm getting bean bags and they can deal

I was able to listen to the Paradigm Studio 60 and 100s as well as the GoldenEar Triton 2.

Yeah bean bag chairs are a great idea for extra seating. Most people can deal with that for 2-3 hours, and they're low to the ground so they wont obstruct the seating row.

It looks great man, you really have quite the prized theater there.

Have you considered stereo active subwoofers?

I remember seeing a home theatre setup before where the dude had built a subwoofer into the seat of his armchair. Bet he wouldnt dare fall asleep during an action movie on that. lol

    UPDATE!

HSU VTF3-MK4 subwoofer and 4 Axiom QS8 surrounds!

For the Sub, the driver needs to face the room and the back port need at least 3" of clearance from the wall correct?

And for the surrounds the prewiring lands 1-2' in front of seating. I've read that the Axiom are very forgiving so should I place them at the current location or should I run the wire an extra foot or two?

Holy cow dude that space still blows me away with how well it all came together into a theater. Simply amazing - I love the colors in there, and I have total seat envy. I can't answer your surround wiring questions - but I hope you've watched a movie in there by now even without the surround. You look almost all ready to go.

Is there a specific reason the walls are Orange? I would have thought matte Black would have suited a theatre room, for practical purposes.
