The WDTV costs about the same and offers more.

No ethernet, no go. My library changes daily so toting the HDD to and from the player is just not going to work out. And, as the above says, WDTV does all this and more.

Im less excited about these media players now that AMDs E350 came out. Low power 1080p goodness and no guesswork about whether it can play obscure mkv files.

If stuff had of come out like this 5 years ago for this price, I would have picked them up. But my main computer is 5 feet from my TV, and I have a 12 foot HDMI going from the PC to the Reciever. Add a Windows remote and a little configuring, and I am all set. Granted, I don't think Windows Media Center supports subtitles (if it does, someone PLEASE tell me how to set it up), but my remote will pause VLC, which is really all I need. (Got a roommate who insists on starting conversations right when the most action-intense part of a movie starts).

I also can't get Windows Media Center to support DVD directory structures, but my remote also supports PowerDVD and Total Media Theater.

Now, I know some friends whom this would be useful for, though. Their LCD is in one room, and their computers are in a spare bedroom. May look at getting them a WD solution for Christmas.

Picked up a WD HD TV refurbished online for about $40. Love it! It doesn't have ethernet but that wasn't a consideration for me.

Still I like the size of this new gadget. The remote is bigger lol!
