Default Canon Freezes SED TV Development

Oh surface-conduction electron-emitter displays, we hardly knew ye. Actually, we didn't know ye at all, since these never got farther than tradeshow prototypes.

I totally forgot about SED. I was originally waiting for this tech to replace my 1080i tube tv, but finally got tired of waiting. For once my impatience worked to my advantage!

When the OLED abandonment announcements arrive, you can officially give up all hope.

Sony has already stopped OLED development.

OLET may be the new hot button technology coming down the pipeline. Only 20 years or so and maybe we will actually see something to TRULY replace those old CRTs in all regards.

Yeah, true, but plasma is pretty darn good. Too bad most of the retail junkies (ie; Best Buy) push LCD's up the gazoo.

You're right. The masses could care less about picture quality: uncalibrated sets, contrast set to scorch mode, 3D glassess...as usual they dictate what is sold. SED technology is what should have been the logical replacement to CRT. I may give OLED a try in the future but for now I am hanging on to my 1080i rear projection CRT TV. Still blows most of the flat panels away in terms of film-like image, notwithstanding the pioneer kuro which like SED died an unfortunate death because people would not pay a few extra bucks for an excellent TV.

I'm not the one that punctuated a statement with a question mark at the end. Second, there is no need to post every thought which may enter your mind on the internet. You must love twitter.
