If you liked "Sleeping Beauty" by all means please buy it if it comes out.

I personally for my collection don't own it & would never buy it.

Buy what pleases you. You don't own my collection & I don't own yours.

I'll wait for the bigger animated releases. That along with "Cinderella" is at the bottom of the list.

I find it cool that Disney is hopefully releasing an animated title but "Pinnochio" was the 1st animated Disney title release so I was expecting something a little bigger than "Sleeping Beauty".

I'm glad you're happy with it thought. Please purchase it so maybe they'll release higher profile animated titles in the future like the ones they said would be coming on the "titles coming soon on Blu-ray" add on Blu-ray DVDs.

I wouldn't buy "Sleeping Beauty" on Blu-ray. For those of you that do please enojy. Not my cup of tea.

I'll wait for the titles that were showing as coming soon on Disney Blu-ray. Those are titles I'm waiting for. I don't think "Sleeping Beauty" was mentioned on those titles.
But they aren't re-releasing Pinnochio next year. Disney cycles through their classic library over an extended period of time. The significance of Sleeping Beauty is not the title itself but the fact that the Blu-ray version is launching alongside the Platinum Edition DVD. This indicates that Disney intends to support Blu-ray at the same level it has supported VHS and DVD--slowly, but consistently.

That's cool. I'll just wait until they cycle around to an animated title I want to buy. Maybe it will take a few year. In case you didn't know home theater history Pinnochio was the 1st animated title released in any format & it was also the 1st Disney animated title released on DVD.

Therefore I was expecting a bigger animated title like they were advertising on the coming soon section of Blu-ray advertisements. Sorry it was a disappointment for me.

Hopefully enough people buy it so they release bigger animated titles in the future.

That's certainly not how they made it look in that DVD screen grab that showed probably 8-10 of their biggest animated titles as "Coming to Blu-Ray". Its a way to hype up consumers to support their DRM infested format of choice without having to actually give them anything. Beh.. this is the same company that keeps advertising in Home Media magazine that there will be 8+ million blu-ray players by the end of the year.

Same here. Damn it, why won't my wife just SEE that another $400 spent on ME is worth every penny?!?

It does seem like some studios are hedging their bets, but can you blame them? Both sides have claimed victory, and have seen that bite them on the ass. Sales are sluggish, if I may put it nicely. If consumers are reluctant to bite, that can only force some studios to ask themselves "Should we have waited?"

I agree with ack, though, that most of the missing studios will probably come out guns blazing around the holidays. Now it's just a waiting game . . . .
    Now watching: Inception, duh.

Now playing: Medal of Honor on PSN; Black Ops on XBOX Live.

I don't think it has to do with keeping a tradition about what comes first and more to do with where they happen to currently be in the rotation.

According to Wikipedia's entry on Disney's Platinum Edition, Pinnochio is expected in March 2009.

If the above link is correct, I'd love to see Disney get full on the Blu-Bandwagon in time for The Jungle Book expected this October...but that's probably wishful thinking.

Hopefully enough people buy it so they release bigger animated titles in the future.
