SINOCES 2007 China - HD DVD absent?
July 6th - 9th, 2007.
Some familiar names on the exhibitors list.
Sony (China) Limited
LG Electronics (China) Ltd.
Blu-ray Disc Association
Dolby Laboratories
Hewlett Packard (China)
Names I don't see.
Microsoft
Toshiba
HD DVD Promotion Group
You would think some of these guys would be here if Chinese cheap players, highly anticipated amongst HD DVD fans, were just around the corner. -

Very good point.
If Bruce Dickenson wants more HD, I say we give 'em more HD! -

LG makes hybrid HD/BD players and drives. HP makes HD-DVD drives, one of which I own. I think Dolby tech appears occasionally on HD-DVD. ;-)
No HD-DVD supporters there?LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blue Blu-ray & HD DVD ROM Drive

I am an HD DVD supporter, but I think that he was reffering to the Major's, not the smaller ones. The list is big on BR, small on HD DVD. I think its screwed up considering that its an easier jump to HD DVD from DVD for a manufacturing perspective, but I don't own a manufacturing plant...

I think what's key is both the Blu-ray Disc Association AND Sony will be there.
That's the equivalent of Toshiba and the HD DVD Promotion Group. Nowhere to be seen. -

The exhibitor list for the particular CES you're talking about seems pretty short, with a lot of sinocentric companies. This one, right?
If you're talking about CES in January 2008, all concerned parties, including your missing ones, are on the exhibitor list there.LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blue Blu-ray & HD DVD ROM Drive

well, he DID specify sinoces. this is presumably where a lot of the OEMs that manufacture the no-name rebranded players meet up to do their thing. aka, the mythical cheap chinese junk players that will finally be the price killers.
it does indeed seem very unencouraging for HD DVD that while BDA has full representation there, HD DVD is not...Can't you recognize bullsh*t? Don't you think it would be a useful item to add to your intellectual toolkits to be capable of saying, when a ton of wet steaming bullsh*t lands on your head, "My goodness, this appears to be bullsh*t?"

True, but it might be more productive to read the list of companies that did attend, post-mortem. Maybe check back in 4 weeks.
