The TBO was way up this week ending 2/28/10 YTY at 220.37% but the $75.36 M TBO was modest.
Kinda curious if BD marketshare percentages pick up a bit this week.

Projections: ‘Informant’ Should Show Strongly
By : Kelly Burner | Posted: 01 Mar 2010
A number of moderate box office earners were released to DVD and Blu-ray Disc Feb. 23. Warner’s farcical The Informant! ($33 million), starring Matt Damon, earned the highest box office gross of the new releases.
After that is the horror flick The Box ($15 million), also from Warner, starring Cameron Diaz.
Also streeting Feb. 23 was the vampire fantasy Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant from Universal, which earned nearly $14 million in domestic theaters.
Lastly, Lionsgate came out with the documentary The September Issue ($3.8 million), which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.
Modest box-office earnings usually equate to modest disc performance. The Box and The Vampire's Assistant should debut between fifth and 10th place on the national top sellers and rentals charts for the week ending Feb. 28.
The Informant! should do better than its competitors, landing as high as No. 2 on both national charts, while the victor of the previous week, Anchor Bay’s Law Abiding Citizen, should hold fast to first place for its second week running.

Even with five new moderately successful features debuting on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, Anchor Bay’s Law Abiding Citizen held firm on the top of all three national home video charts for the week ended Feb. 28.
Indeed, demand for the Overture Films crime drama remained so strong that rental action slipped just 17% in the film’s second week of release, enough for it to remain in the No. 1 spot on Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart for the second consecutive week.
Warner’s The Informant!, at $33.3 million the most successful box office performer of the five newcomers, debuted at No. 4 on the rental chart, with just 50.4% as many rental transactions as Law Abiding Citizen.
On the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, it was a similar story. Law Abiding Citizen remained at No. 1 for the second consecutive week, while The Informant! debuted at No. 3, selling just 37.6% as many units its first week in stores as the Anchor Bay release did in its second week of release.
A direct-to-video title from Warner, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, an animated superhero tale based on the DC comic books, finished second on the sales chart.
On the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc sales chart, Law Abiding Citizen also finished on top for the second consecutive week, as the percentage of sales that came from the Blu-ray Disc version rose to 41% from 28% in week one.
Justice League finished third on the Blu-ray Disc chart, while The Informant! debuted at No. 10.
Other theatrical films released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc last week were The Box ($15 million), a creepy horror film from Warner; Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant ($13.9 million), from Universal Studios; the Summit Entertainment horror film Sorority Row ($12 million); and the Walt Disney/Miramax drama Everybody’s Fine ($9.2 million).
Of those, The Box fared best on the sales front, debuting at No. 4 on First Alert, while Vampire’s Assistant out-rented the competition, bowing at No. 6 on Home Media Magazine’s rental chart.

90.9% of studio new theatrical movies post 1997 made it to DVD.
New Theatrical defined as films released after JAn 1, 1997 the launch year of the DVD format.

As time moved on the percentage of DVD releases that were Theatrical Catalog (pre 1997) declined as the studio library of catalog releases was exhausted,

If Blu-ray is at 399 Theatrical Catalog releases right now, thats about equal to the pace of 1997+1998 = 452 titles. But actually a lot of the 900 Blu-ray titles considered New Theatrical (1997-Current) a lot of those are actually catalog titles as well as they are new to Blu-ray but long since released on DVD. Probably 900 or more Blu-ray titles are not day and date new releases and were previously released on DVD. DVD only had 895 of those non day and date older catalog type releases through 1997-1998-1999-three years into the format.
So thats really at the pace that DVD was on for 3-4years into the format for non day and date new releases that were just out that year in the theaters.
At a pace of 1400 new Blu-ray titles this year, with 400 being New Theatrical Blu-ray at the end of this year would catch up to where DVD was 4 years into the format..

In fact right now as I am typing this I am eating a King Salmon steak that came out of a 48 pounder we caught on the ocean last year. Fat as a pig with oil just dripping off ot the steak.
