I'll say it again, Sony only sold alot more in Japan, where they won't even acknowledge an American gaming company, which is basically racist, because the exact same titles that looked better on the Xbox sold nothing there, let alone fan favorites like Ninja Gaiden that they completely ignored, only because the Xbox carried it.
I do have to laugh though that you think the PS3 will somehow look better long term, based on what? Both machines do things different graphically, yet will put out almost identical PQ even 4 years from now. There is no magical area on the chip you can get to to open up some whole new world that the 360 can't. How do I know? I'm a game developer that does cross-platform coding for both of these machines, and the Wii to some extent and can tell you unequivocally that there is nothing the Cell will do noticeably better that the PowerPC can, nothing. But keep telling yourself that to justify your purchase or what you read on some fanpage.
Ahh which company do you develop for? I'm a developer as well, but in the gaming industry, not the video game industry (I make gambling video games)

Since you're really a game developer, I'd expect you to know that the more time developers have with a system the more creative programming they can create. Compare the graphics between Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII, its like night and day.

Once again, i never said that the PS3 graphics would blow away the 360, especially with similar hardware specs. The OP of this thread was the one bragging about how much better the 360 games look right now.

Now they're estimating over 10million units. They also have a nice explanation as to what 'Sales' mean. Seems like retailers are expecting more to sell.
It seems like Microsoft is double counting for all of the defective 360s that had to be replaced. We all know someone who had a 360 crap out on them. Be honest

So? I went through multiple PSone's and PS2's, but nobody really cares.

Ahh yes, but this statement assumes that 360 development would remain stagnant for a year as well. For all we know after a year the gap may still be the same.

Same with all the defective PS3s? We all know someone who had a PS3 crap out on them. Be honest

(Edit: on a serious note, and replaced defectives wouldn't be counted because they're sent to consumers, not sold/in transit to retailers. If you want to keep being an ass when figures are posted, do some research and post intelligent rebuttles which amount to more than 'oh yeah??' and 'nun'uh!'.)

Not sure what you are talking about. The hardware failures of the 360 have been massive and well documented.

If there were significant PS3 failures you can bet there'd be an article on this website and many others.

Post some real figures first and not inflated estimates.

Not to mention the different 'bugs' which are promised to be worked out in time (which they seem to have made worse in the last update). I honestly don't know anyone who was affected by the 360 initial issues nor anyone who was affected by the PS3's.

The failure rate of the 360 isn't any more than the dreadful PS1 or even the PS2. It's just more enthusiastically reported.

EVERYONE know someone that's owned multiple PS1s and PS2s. But it's not seen as the world-ending event that a failed 360 is.

And there are already rumors of a PS3 recall....

lol@Including the Microsoft Knowledge Database as a "Problem Report", it's a Tech Support site with FAQ/Explanations into error messages. And all those links repeat some variation of:
it's unclear how many systems are affected
Weren't you just a few posts ago saying I should have hard numbers? Maybe the Xbox errors are a little more noticeable when the company is able to issue and sell 2.5million units within 90 days of launch.
