I do not know what you guys expect this movie to be, a true-to-life documentary, like Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down?
So explain to me why DK was not filled with so much silliness being that its a PG13 movie based on a cartoon?

I love all kinds of movies, even bad movies, and I love many of Bays movies as well. I was not expecting anything from TF2 but to be entertained but crap is crap and just because people loved the Optimus fight sceen does not excuse the rest of the movie.

To Quote George Lucas " A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing"

Please do not put Black hawk and Band of Brothers in the same sentence. Especially saying Black Hawk was true to life. It wasnt. TY.

But I agree about TF2. This series is designed for "kids". The unfortunate part is some of us "Kids" have been waiting for TF movies since the toys first came out. When we were kids. Now we just have a higher standard.

Sorry, but I'm a fan of the 80's Transformers and I can't recall an episode that had a plot as stupid as the first movie (haven't seen or really plan to see the 2nd one). It was insulting to fans. The 80's show wasn't pointless robot/action porn like these films are. The show didn't resort to juvenile potty humor like the first one did and the second one continues to do as the reviews indicate. As a fan of the original, I'm insulted that this is what Transformers has been reduced to: a mix of soft-porn, juvenile humor and CGI mindlessness. Is that what you remember the 80's show to be? If so, you might want to go re-watch the show and remember what it was really about.

I will not be seeing this in the theater. Word of mouth amongst my coworkers, friends, and family members has been pretty bad... I will rent first, but I am pretty sure I will end up buying this if I can get a similar deal that I did with the Blu-Ray (I basically got it free after the mail in rebate).

Same story for me. I didn't much care for the first one, but I got the HD DVD for next to nothing in a Best Buy BOGO sale. I will rent TF2 on BD when it is released and decide whether or not I need to buy it.

I thought that the Harvey two-face scenario is silly. Why would he not
Spoiler:
kill the Joker who killed his GF and kill all the people that tried to save him and his GF instead?
Can you explain that to me?

First off
Spoiler:
the joker did not kill Harveys girl friend, the mob did. the mob informent in gordens office deliverd harveys girlfriend to the mob, the joker tells havey this in the hospital and harvey goes after the informents and the mob boss, Harveys own people betrayed him

His charactor stayed true to the original charactor, who losses his mental state after a tragidy
Spoiler:
he believe's his actions and the actions of the people he worked with are responsable for his girlfriends death, he can not mentaly handle this truth, thus he no longer makes decisions, he lets the coin decide. in his mind he has taken himself out of the equation and is free from future blame and fault, he even puts the gun to his own head and flips the coin for his own part in his GFs death

Do you get it now?

Those charactors in TF2 do not act like they do in the comics. Explain that to me?

Spoiler:
How the heck did the Joker and the Mob coordinate the explosions to go off at the EXACT same time then if the Joker had NOTHING to do with Dent's GF dying??? Especially seeing as the Joker alienated himself from the Mob from the get-go.

Did YOU see the movie?

TF2 was hands down the worst movie I have seen in a few years. However, if your IQ is under 100, you will enjoy it immensely.

1 Beverly Hills Cop
2 Ghostbusters
3 Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
4 Gremlins
5 The Karate Kid
6 Police Academy
7 Footloose
8 Romancing the Stone
9 Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
10 Splash

Yeah right, they were all gems of cinematic glory with "plot, storyline and exceptional direction given to exceptional actors"...
As much as I loved Ghostbusters, I'd take 2008 blockbusters over 1984: The Dark Knight, WALL-E, Gran Torino, Iron Man, Benjamin Button & Slumdog Millionaire.

Transformers 2 is just as entertaining as most blockbusters over the past 30 years, and will definitely be a Bluray purchase for me.
So we have just come to the conclusion that you will buy the BD and I will not?!? You are right about those gems from 1984 being nothing more than cinematic clones produced to be eye candy or boost a young actors/comedians career. That is why I do not consider these movies when I mention summer blockbuster.
As I mentioned, Titanic is the last movie that I feel was a summer blockbuster in the fact that the line went two blocks and if you didn't see it at least five times, you suck.
My BD purchases will be Star Trek, Wolverine, LOTR and some more that I can't think of right now, but NOT TF2!!!!

Shrug, if the transfer is near reference, I have a feeling a lot of people will buy this disc regardless of how bad it is, if the price is low enough.

As it stands, a lot of people can _TRY_ to hold some sort of a moral highground about how shitty the artistic qualities of the movie was - acting, plot, etc, but the reality is over 40 percent of the respondents have already PLANNED on buying the movie before it was even seen.

That tells you something doesn't it?

I have a lot of friends who think the fifth element wasn't that great of a movie, yet until BD came along was considered one of the reference films to benchmark your home theatre...now why is that?

If TF2 comes out with lossless 7.1, pristine transfer, it will become a very common demodisc.

Liked the first one, the sequel was average at best, did what a summer blockbuster action movie is supposed to do---blow crap up, heavy on the CGI and T&A.

I'm thinking this one will be like the first and have near reference PQ and AQ. If it's in 7.1 and have decent extras, then it's a near automatic purchase for me.

I saw it in pseudo-IMAX (pisses me off! ). I didn't know for sure, but thought it was smaller than the last IMAX film I saw. Reading this thread confirmed it though.

Back to the movie. It was typical Bay. I liked it because it had humerous moments, lots of action, and many more Transformers then the first one. Definitely buying this on blu, it will have good replay value, and stunning pq/aq.

I love TITANIC. Boy...that film scored on just about every reason people go to see movies. Had a terrific story...brilliantly woven, tremendous cast, a haunting score, and state of the art special effects. This was the last film that I saw multiple times at the cinema. It was the top grossing film for something like 6 months straight!!! Hard to imagine since most popular films these days don't seem to last more than 2 weeks.
