Haven't seen it yet, but is it really racist? That is a pretty strong accusation to make.

Taffy.... Sbert... Chill the hell out. You guys are frickin arguing over whether or not a frickin movie was considered a summer blockbuster. While it isn't a summer blockbuster, obviously, who the F&#*cares?! Grow the hell up and carry on an intelligent, mature conversation. Judas priest.....

And TF2 is buyable... only for the action. The rest of this movie sucked. In all honesty, it was some of the most amateur filmmaking I've seen in years. And, gosh, that editing was a frickin disgusting joke.

While the Twins were obviously racist, I do not find this to be the most racist film in the 21st century. For that, just check out 99% of all those crappy teen comedies coming out every week. But the Twins were offensive, and really stupid. My jaw finally dropped when they said they couldn't read... but I didn't care. Anyone who took them seriously should be shot, cuz they were the worst characters I've ever seen in a movie. Jar Jar Binks times 200,000,000

Ya, sorry, I kind of started that. Someone misread one of my posts and assumed I called Titanic a "summer blockbuster". What I had actually intended to say was that Titanic was the last movie that "acted" like a summer blockbuster, long lines, multiple viewing, movie quotes, etc... not the movie itself was a summer blockbuster.
The last summer blockbuster to my recollection, was TDK. Alas, TF2 looks to outsell that this Q4.

Totally off topic: Mr. Brooks was a huge surprise!! Why have I not heard of this movie before? Is this on Blu yet? Instant purchase for me if/when it is.

silverado, I think you might be misunderstanding...since it wasn't just that. It was really more about well...that Titanic is simply not the last film to act like a summer blockbuster in any way, shape or form. Even disregarding the time of year it came out, I see no logical way to make that claim. It's just not accurate. That it was a winter movie just made the whole comment sillier, but was hardly the crux of the argument.

Anyway...I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, but I won't go on anymore past this one. Whatever the case, it's really not important.

Though I will agree...Mr Brooks was quite a surprise. Demi Moore was awful...but the rest of that movie was pretty damn good. Who'd have thunk it.

I just saw this film and I think it's great. Day one purchase
it's TF1 with more action

why are people looking for a plot in this movie?!? did they not see the first one full of fast editing ,corny jokes , eye candy for the boys, stupid love story and more CGI then reality.

Racist!???? how those two stupid twins were just there for comic relief

Cause they are caricatures of black americans, they are there in the movie at the direction of a white man to make fun of black sterotypes for white americas enjoyment. Why couldnt they of been redneck hillbillies?

^least that is what I am sure some folks feel. do not forget we now live in a very pc world... anything someone says or do can be construed as racist, sexist, elitist or unpatriotic if you try hard enough.

It's a movie for the kids and adults. General audiences will like it.

I'm not buying the movie in BD. In fact I will never willfully watch that movie again. Only other movie to get that vow from me was Spider-Man 3.

Mini Thoughts/Review: Where the first film was made to please the older fans of the Transformers mythos, the second one was made for and by Hollywood. Stupid JarJar-ish robots to please the kids and a forgettable and worthless pure action story. With constant crazy CGI action going on(some of the slowmo robot face tearing was actually cool but just too much of it going on) I was looking at my watch after 90mins wondering when the good guys were going to win and I could go home.

It seems people who were Transformer fans growing up don't like it (me) while ones who never watched the cartoon or read the comics liked it (my brother, my girlfriend).

By now I doubt I will see it while it is in the theaters but I plan on picking this up on blu.
despite all the bad things about the first movie (directing, acting etc) it was still a lot of fun to watch and from what I can tell, TF2 is the same way.

Just saw it. Fucking awesome. I really enjoyed it as an action movie. Some of the jokes were a bit crass but some I just burst out laughing. I was entertained for 2 and half hours so can't complain about that. Will definitely be buying this on Blu-Ray. If you loved the first one you will love the second one.

I really enjoyed it as a bit of daft popcorn fun. Not quite as good as the first film (Which itself wasn't exactly amazing, but was excellent fun). This one is just that little bit dafter, stretches credibility just that little bit more, and has just slightly sillier/predictable plot elements. Did anyone else find themselves rolling their eyes in despair at the hackneyed:
Spoiler:
"seduction scene that's not a seduction and girlfriend arrives at wrong moment to get the wrong impression!"
I mean, don't get me wrong, I know these films aren't exactly the greatest proponents of originality, but that part was just annoying and stupid rather than funny. On the whole, good fun, though.

I'll probably get this, but I have to admit, if its got the changing aspect ratios that I've read about Dark Knight having, I may think twice. I just think that sounds so aggravating and awkward. I can understand it when aspect ratios are changed with the story (For example, Enchanted, which regardless what you thought of the film, at least had good creative/story reasons for the changes in AR) but like Dark Knight, Transformers 2 was framed properly for a consistent aspect ratio all the way through for their normal theatrical release. The changing aspect ratios are just for the Imax showings, so they're not simply artistic framing changes. As such, I think any films with parts like that, should at least offer a branching version with and without the original framing for the Imax scenes.

Well, if it's not too noticeable on Transformers 2... still sounds annoying lol! Though I don't think I'll rent TDK. Ended up seeing it twice at the cinema, and thought it was a pretty weak film, overall. Don't think I could sit through it again lol! So I'll maybe give Transformers 2 a rent when it comes out, to see how it goes!
