What else does HD DVD has to offer for this year?
on the other side, Blu-ray has Ghost Rider in June, 300 in July, both will be released at the same date with the DVD version. Don't need to mention that POTC3, SpiderMan 1&2&3 is coming this year... What's more, there is another one The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. All of them due this year..
What does HD DVD has to offer for their $199 player? NOTHING...--------------------------------
* A/V Receiver Yamaha HTX-5990
* Speakers: Klipsch Reference 2x RF-5, 1x RC-52, 2x RS-52
* Sony Playstation 3 (60GB)
* Display Sanyo PLV-Z4 720p Projector -

So by not having BD it means I won't be able to watch Ghost Rider in HD.
That is a relief!
Spider-Man 3 was also piss poor, wouldn't buy it on SDVD. Shrek will be neutral, but it too was KRAP, rent if you haven't seen it.
I loved POTC 1, but felt it lost direction in 2 and from what I hear 3 is all over the map.
Call me when Star Wars comes out and Disney actually releases something other than POTC.Trust everyone but cut the cards.
I own an HD-A20 and 8 HD titles. Planet Earth is the best, IMHO, and it would be the best even if I had BD.
I have two kids that enjoy watching the Flintstones on whatever format I have. My wife wonders why the hell I care about hidef in the first place.
I want: LoTR, Jurassic Park, Star Wars III and IV, Saving Private Ryan. The rest, I'll rent...might buy Jaws. -

Ghost Rider...This is Official.
300...This is a neutral release.
POTC2
Spiderman 123
...and the rest...are only your wish list.
You can not even count on "Cars" or "Lost" anymore.
If you do not have an official date, you should not bring titles that are just on your wish list.
For every link that you bring me where studios are promising those titles you just mentioned. (with the exception of Ghost Rider since this is official) I can bring you another link where titles from Disney or Fox where promised also and then cancelled or after a year has not even seen the light.Last edited by divian; 05-31-2007 at 11:02 PM.

I wouldn't exactly call HD-DVD's lineup of catalog titles "Stellar", either. The movie I want the most this summer from the HD side is "Darkman" and possibly an upgrade to the HD-DVD "The Bourne Identity". Woo.
On the Blu side of things...let's just say they don't need any competition--they can defeat themselves with all these damn delays.

Yeah, gotta say...people need to use language more carefully. There should almost be a common sense rule at this point: if it's not announced, don't mention it as a positive for your format of choice. I for one was foolish (initially) enough to believe that by showing Aladdin in both the trade ads and on a CONSTANT Best Buy promo loop that it would be coming out soon. In reality, there are NO current plans for it, or any other Disney animated classics this year.
Same with Pixar and Cars...same with Lost...same with Badder Santa...same with Con Air and Crimson Tide...and the list goes on and on...
...and while I agree with Ack that Universal did mistakenly promote a few Spielberg titles earlier last quarter, IMO this was both swiftly taken care of, apologized for, and explained. Compare this with Disney and their sudden removal of titles, Fox doing the same and staying oddly silent, Sony postponing Da Vinci Code...
I truly love Blu-Ray...(beyond the fact that their goddamn 1000k Sony player still has yet to get a TrueHD update --so much for Iwo Jima in lossless sound), they have great video quality and sound quality (thanks to actually utilizing their lossless capability over companies like Universal) and I know their discs will always work. But listing their "upcoming releases" as strengths over the competition is foolhardy at best as both Disney and Fox have proven themselves clearly as the two most unreliable studios in the game.
EDIT--And gotta say, as for upcoming HD DVD releases, I actually am happy to have Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Dawn of the Dead, Breach and Heroes: Season 1. Which are actually all announced, now if at least a few will get the lossless treatment...Last edited by Diesmos; 05-31-2007 at 11:20 PM.

Besides the fantastic summer lineup? (Thanks Universal!)
I have no idea, but then again... what does Blu-Ray have post-summer? We don't really know either... -
