60 to 70% of the revenue may come from Blu-Ray but how much of it is profit? HD DVD may be more profitable per disc so the figures may be closer than that. Just a suggestion, it may be complete nonsense and we'll probably never know for certain

I also said fall. Just because you dont have the timetable for BD-J, doesnt mean that BDA doesnt:

Well I cant help it if you dont belive statements fram Disney, that is not my fault:

By the time I finished reading this thread that turned into a pissing contest, the HD DVD version of Planet Earth was still outselling the BD version.

100% correct.
Well, I think "good PR" might be an overstatement. Just trying to provide what might be a correction to the previous interpretation of those numbers that appeared to skew BD sales far more heavily than what the Warner president appears to actually state. Certainly not trying to say that Warner is making more money off HD DVD right now or anything silly like that. Just trying to be accurate. -

Sorry got that one wrong. Fox is waiting on BD+ not BD-J. BD-J is supposed to be finished by Oct 31. I don't think anyone has any news on when BD+ is supposed to be ready.
Thanks for the link for the videobusiness article. According to the article even the PS3 can't do the PIP for the new BD-J. I didn't know that.
I'm not sure which one to believe on "The Chronicles of Narnia" this site saying a fall release or the digital bits saying around the holidays.Few Blu-ray players include picture-in-picture capability, for instance, not even the PlayStation 3.
Sony’s current and summer 2007 stand-alone models and available Pioneer and Philips units are among those lacking the picture-in-picture feature.
I do hope Pixar releases "Cars" in September. If not they probably would push it to around the holiday season. I'd really like to have that title.
Again here is the quote the digital bits got from Disney. Choose which site you want to believe. According to him he got the info Buena Vista Home Entertainment president.
This isn't a jab at Blu-ray as you're taking it. It's a jab at Disney for not supporting Blu-ray more with titles & I take it from what they said until there is a bigger market penetration we won't be seeing big titles from them.At a press event in Hollywood last night for the forthcoming Pirates high-def release, Buena Vista Home Entertainment president Bob Chapek revealed that his company has started production on the Blu-ray Disc release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, likely due to hit stores in time for the holidays later this year.
It's also a jab at the BDA for not having the specs & complete players in place for format launch so those of us that have already bought players would have to buy new players if we want to take advantage of all the things Blu-ray can do eventually. BD-J isn't mandantory to be in players until 10/31 & there is no news on when BD+ will be implemented & Fox will be back on board.Last edited by marine92104; 05-15-2007 at 09:07 PM.

Yes, lets hope for more BD this summer fall. As you see I also have the Toshiba HD-XA1, bought that as early as august 2006. I love movies and love both formats because I love HD. BUT I do hope for one format only. Here in my city one videostore just startet blu-ray rentals and that is a great start.
I now only buy BD to support the format I think will win in the end. But I also buy some Universal-titles.
Too bad the BD-J and the BD+ is not ready, cus I think we would had a lot more titles from all companies for Blu-ray

Moved thread to Sales Data and Ranks subfolder
I've moved this thread to the sales data and ranks subfolder. After careful consideration, this thread was left in the wrong area. And my attempt to remedy the situation is to move it to the appropriate area. I'm sorry it's so late in this thread's life, but sometimes we miss things also.
