    Default $199 blu ray player

Bestbuy is selling a bluray player for $199 in the sunday ad. It also comes with a $100 coupon book good for Disney/Touchstone/Miramax blurays.

For everyone who said they wouldn't buy one until they get below $200, what will be the new number now?

Who in their right mind would buy this junk when you can get the 1500 deal at Amazon with The Matrix set? BB will probably rip off a few with this none the less. Hell I'm sure a couple people a month buy movies there at their prices.

I'm not saying it's the best player. I've seen the BD30 for sale as low as $245 at Frys. I personally own the bd30 and think it's great.

I'm not interested in profiles, just the movie.

The point is it's Oct and we're already seeing sub $200 pricing.

What an interesting development. A month ago BD players would never get down to $200 this year and now a $199 player is a ripoff. Very interesting.

Yeah, I'm not going to argue that... But why would anyone buy a profile 1.1 player like this instead of a profile 2.0 player like the 1500? I'm not sure about the speed of the insignia but the 1500 is extreamly fast.

Yet another interesting observation. Have you actually tested this player to conclude that it is junk or are you just going by the brand name?

The machine should appeal to the same base of customers that finds Olevia to be a trustworthy label.

So you are coming out and saying that this is a better buy than the 1500? If not then what's your point? Probably just to argue. And yes I am basing my observation on brand name. The same base of customers could actually upgrade to a better machine for a few dollars more. Not to mention The Matrix Box set! Hell even if they don't care for the movie they could sell it making the player even cheaper than the Insignia.

It's all relative. BB selling this player compared to the 1500 w/Matrix is a ripoff. BB in general is a ripoff! But if you think thats not the case go for it!

I'm not saying it won't get the job done. Sure it will play the movie. I think you missed my point.

i know the denon isn't a 'like this' player but a colleague was asking about blu ray as they're just sorting out their home cinema for a new place in london

so they went with a pioneer kuro and a denon player because they couldn't see anything in the sony profile 2, or maybe i didn't explain 2 very well

Effectively it's $100 if you count the coupon for blu-ray movies.

I've had deals like that. How many of those coupons actually get used? So you choose the Insignia? Interesting.....

Not me personally, but if you think this won't interest some budget conscious buyers, you're kidding yourself.

I don't mind spending more on a quality piece of electronics. Software costs more in the long run. I'm waiting for the Sony or Panasonic players to drop a bit more in price before getting a second (stand alone) player.
