mikemorel's posts have me confused... is this the "Smackdown" forum or the "Shooting Fish in a Barrel" forum?

At least now we know that it takes $32k worth of gear to be "better than Blu-ray disc". If that's not a positive evaluation of the quality and value Blu-ray brings to high def home theater enthusiasts, I'm not sure what is.

Yes, $30,000+ for player and $40 for title compared to $399 for something like a PS3 and $20-30 for 1080p video, lossless audio and Internet (whenever the studios are ready).

Hmmm. Didn't Sony just say that blu-ray would be the last optical disc format? I guess the Movie Studios forgot to tell them they had other plans...

I guess 4 red laser DVDs @ 18Gb must be cheaper than 1 BD50....

4000 titles + many new movies...Studio's message clear as mud for videophiles as well as J6P!!!
dear god man, this is getting beyond dumb, and now i'm actually concerned that you need to seek help, please get the help that you need, see a dr

If someone creates a number of threads and doesn't bother to debate in any of them, they are clearly not interested in the debate. They are interested in the reactions.

This is the definition of trolling. This is against the rules.

I would point this out to the mods, but they clearly don't give a damn.

I really don't see this being a blu-ray killer either. Granted I'm pretty sure the studio's are probably concerned about how slow blu-ray is catching on. I still think a dual format future would have been better and kept generating interest in the market.
But this isn't gonna appeal to most people who don't have a lot of money. I thought the red laser technology offered by NME was interesting and had potential. It is supposed to be as good as blu-ray but I haven't heard anything about it in awhile. I'm not even sure if these player's made it to the state's.
