Default Personal HiDef observation

Well I been busy with work and aerobics, but watching a lot of blu-rays.
not much in these forums lately since HD DVD pretty much died.

Here is what I observed in the field

1. HD DVD pretty much gone!
2. Universal and Paramount are on Blu-ray - could not believe Universal last year.
3. Best buy has 2 rows or so with Blu-ray - not just 2 areas - entries rows
4. Blockbuster is expanding.
5. Seen Blu-ray players under $300.
6. Blu-ray movie list here is hugh
7. HD DVD almost removed from this site.

Personally I been saving money at same time watching more Bliu-ray thanks to BlockBusters 21.99 watch any movie each day or so deal. It better than online or VOD - because I can watch it and return it anytime.

By holiday season, it just be completely diffierent than last year - Blu-ray has won and here to stay.

My observation:

High definition becomes less impressive when you let your eyes degrade to a point you need glasses. Note to self...get glasses.

We're just throwing out random observations, right?

my glarring observation. After three years in the market with bazillion of $$$$ spent on marketing, people STILLLLLLLL cant get the Blu-ray name correct!

Default here's my personal observations

My HD-DVD players and titles still work great.
Blu-ray is still a work in progress and too expensive.
The local Fry's still has tons of HD-DVD titles available for sale at bargain prices.
So do various on-line retailers.
Half of the newly announced blu-ray titles these days are make-up titles already available on HD-DVD.
We expect our HD-DVD players and collection of movies (including those well mastered anamorphic SD-DVD's played upconverted) will hold us just fine until blu-ray profile 2 standalone players are reliable and reasonably priced.
Then - maybe - we'll spend money on blu-ray.

Ye gods, still with that? You're usually at least defensibly stubborn, but this passed ridiculous a while ago. Why "must do less than the current fastest, most reliable and cheapest Profile 2.0 player" is the deal-breaking standard for you I'll never know.

I've got the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD. I know you may have heard bad things about it, but I've got to tell you: Never buy the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD.

My observation is that the end of the format war was actually bad for the formats. The whole excitement is gone from it, and it's actually kinda boring now. Google news pieces on next gen dvd is at all time low.

No way, it is only bad for HD DVD fans. Blu-ray is moving at pace at least double that is was when HD DVD was a live.

Big looser in all this is Toshiba. I can't believe even Universal is not keeping with old Toshiba.

I believe BD is for storage format
and Blu-ray is the movie disk or storage.

I believe you can even get BD writers for $200 for computer.

It's going to take a long time to wash all the sand out of their vagina and accept Blu Ray.

On a side note, I also rented a couple of Universal Blu-rays and they are actually quite nice - better than Sony because the ones I saw included DTS.

Universal made a PR about using DTS-MA on all future releases. Sony uses TrueHD. Both formats are lossless, both being equivalent to what you would get from PCM.

Also, why would Universal be "following" Toshiba exactly? All they have now is DVD, there's no other viable high def format available besides BD.
