It makes sense to position the pricing on studio catalog and older Blu-ray releases at those price points.
It should spur hardware sales as well and as long as there is some profit from the studios on their library catalog sales in Blu-ray and the margin is still there on newer day and date releases, its all good.
They can make margin and volume on new titles whilel they continue to give incentive for consumers to double dip on the Blu-ray version of older titles.
Works for me. Thats what I hoped would happen, and if Warner is leading the way, more power to them. We can already get Sony and Disney titles on BOGO B2G1 sales at major retailers. -

It's about time that BD prices went down, especially catalogue prices. Hopefully this will be a great success and other studios will adopt the same tactic.

I'm glad software is coming down, at least on catalogues; but what about hardware? A cheaper player would be a perfect one-two punch for BD adoption in the 4th qtr if it happens.
Enjoying life in HD!

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here.
I (and many like me) have purchased many many hd-dvd titles since becoming involved (late in the life of hd-dvd, but before the Warner stake in the heart) - 95% of them around $8 to $12 each - and only 1 over $20. I realize those sale prices were a function of HD-DVD trying to stay afloat, and then subsequently fire sale prices - but the consumers got the pricing benefit of that. That was my only point.
And I'm pleased to see Warner take some steps to make blu-ray titles more affordable.

Well, cause most people don't read these type of news. And many people don't really care. I mean...I could save lots of money if I never bought anything day and date...and didn't buy anything except during the holiday season...but I don't do that across the board because having the lowest price possible isn't the only thing that gets someone to buy.

Warner has always been the best HD studio imo. Their prices are great.
But the end result of little to no blu-ray sales (b1g1, b2g1) that we saw montly / weekly when HD DVD was alive does result in the effect of "prices going up"
I'm paying more for HD movies today than i was paying when HD DVD was alive. That's a fact.Blu-rays: 350
Steel Books: 15
Players: PS3 Slim, Samsung BD-P1500
Sound: Onkyo TX-SR674S / SKS-HT240
