Nintendo does not like next-gen disks.

Well you know what?Nintendo Canada's Marketing Director, Pierre-Paul Trépanier, doesn't appear to like HD-DVD or Blu-ray all too much. The sentiment doesn't shock us, especially given Nintendo's history of format choice. If anything, we can set our watch by such statements.
Next-gen disks don't like Nintendo.
I love all High-Def media regardless of format.
My home theatre:
HDTV: LG 55" Passive 3D LED HDTV 240Hz
Receiver/speakers: Yamaha YHT-270 5.1 650 Watts
Blu-ray player: PlayStation 3 20GB with a 250GB drive installed
HD DVD player: Xbox 360 Elite + HD DVD Drive
Cable: Comcast Digital Cable with HBO, Showtime & DVR (HD channels 1080i)
Remote: Logitech Harmony One -

I think he has a fair point but it depends on what you are looking for when considering a console purchase. For a console in the kids bedroom it may well suffice, but some of us want to use it in our main setup to enjoy 5.1 sound and HD visuals.

I'm just wondering how many more consoles Nintendo will come out with before they go HD. If their next console isn't HD than I can definitely see their sales going way down. But I'm suer kids will still buy them though regardless.

Apparantly Microsoft doesn't like next gen discs either since they are using the same format for gaming two generations in a row.
Sony always goes next gen, CD, DVD, Blu Ray. -

DVD had been out for around 3 years prior to being included in the PS2, Blu-Ray is trying to get a running start in the PS3 which is causing them extra problems on top of the normal gaming release issues. I at least give Microsoft credit for designing their system to be flexible enough to allow for add-on drives transparently. Although I'm really not fond of the shape -.-;

And if MS had included an HD-DVD drive in the 360 itself, it would have brought the price up almost $200. It's a great marketing strategy in my opinion, make it cheaper than the PS3, and give people an option to go HD-DVD if they choose. It's all about the consumer...which it should be."The war is not over"
