For whatever reason, Toshiba and the DVD Forum are still passing standards for the HD DVD format, who knows why. But we will not see the return of HD DVD. Like you said, the Blu-ray vs. HD DVD battle is over and Blu-ray won. That being said, Toshiba and other DVD Forum members are continuing to evolve the DVD standard to include new things. We know Toshiba is working on SUC and they recently filed a patent for adding more layers to DVD. As Mike posted, there is a new DVD DL logo. What does all this mean? What impact, if any, will this have on HDM and Blu-ray?

I still think what Toshiba, Microsoft & the DVD Forum do are relevant topics for discussion.

THAT is the thread title - and as you can see in up coming conferences - it really is still "under development."

But go right ahead and ignore that.
Umm. Okay. So what do you think will come of all this "development" Lee? Is Toshiba going to release CH-DVD in the US? Is Toshiba going to bring HD DVD back out on the market? I guess I am trying to understand the relevance of these meetings and this development as it applies to me. The consumer. Living in North America. In reality.

I am curious why was SUC not brought up at the latest meeting? Is that not being rolled out this month? Aside from that, there is not a whole heck of a lot to discuss in this (an HDM forum) with regards to any of these "developments" as far as I can tell.

    You are 100% incorrect.

What if I told you "I know something you don't know"?

What if I told you "I know something the press doesn't know"?

To be more precise, what if I told you "I know something no one else knows except the DVD Forum and maybe a few resourceful people who aren't talking yet"?

I am not an insider. I am not a viral marketer. I am not emplyed by anyone in the industry. I just enjoy talking about this stuff (and making BD folks crazy).

    I am, however, fairly resourceful...

Sorry, Mike but you are going to have a hard time convincing anyone about your "secret" based on your previous track record. And based on many of your posts around here I am not sure you are really in tune as to where the market (consumer home video) is heading...

So mikie... in order for your "smoking gun" to matter you need to put it out there for the world to review... so your smoking gun is.....?

No disrespect meant, but claiming to have the smoking gun is not the same as showing people the smoking gun. To offer up an extreme example, I could claim to have Big Foot locked up in my basement. Not really very convincing until I actually show Big Foot to people.

Apparently it's top secrete, just like the what really happened during the Kennedy assassination.

True. I'm just not so sure I should be showing it yet.
