The original article specifically says that Fox is not having production issues and even quotes the Fox guy as confirming that. They're not releasing because of the BD hack, clear and simple. This was already confirmed by the Sony insider on avsforum. What in the world is Bill Hunt writing these days?

They're not delaying "Dude, Where's My Car" because of piracy concerns . . . they're delaying it because they realize it's horrible and they're hoping people forget about it!
Seriously - is everyone trying to LOSE this war? HD DVD takes three months off . . . Universal bungles two consecutive day and date titles, and Fox is alienating itself from its customer base.
It hurts to think I hopped into the fray so early . . . -

What happens is that studios are not very compromised with their respective formats. Some people think that they can not move from one format to another. They will. Surprises are on the way.

Are you kidding me? Both sides have been doing this since day one...on the HD side with titles like Grand Prix and Excalibur. On the BR side terrible animated efforts like Dinosaur and Into the Wild from Disney. And from the neutrals...Rumor Has It. Don't get me wrong, I like looking at Jennifer Anniston in high def as much as the next guy...but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
That's why this arguing is so amusing...it's like some people haven't clued into the fact that most of the titles from both sides suck...one currently has just released fifteen or so more titles than the other...

You know I wonder the same thing myself sometimes
And don't forget the horrible start Blu-Ray had with their transfer quality... I feel sorry for everyone who owns Fifth Element on Blu-Ray, and that includes myself.
(I may support Blu-Ray, but that doesn't mean I don't care about the mistakes made on their end!!)<--- From the Island of the Blu Dolphin --->

Maybe you should ask Fox. All I know is the Fox person himself stated explicitly that they did NOT have a production problem. And an employee from Sony said that the hack was the reason for all the mystery cancellations. I suppose with Eragon and Night at the Museum Fox wants to capitalize on the advertising money they're spending on the movies since they're brand new to home video. Holding off on Eragon or Museum for a couple of months could reduce those titles' sales dramatically as a lot of BD owners would simply buy the DVD version and not double dip again when they get a surprise release in 4 months. That'd be my guess. Release the new stuff to maximize advert investments and first 1-2 week sales, hold back on the steady selling and proven catalog titles as they can be released any time. If I was a Fox exec and actually believed that BD+ was going to work 100%, that's how I'd approach it.
