I just cancelled my blu-ray version and I'll either wait it out until a non-borked Blu-Ray release (with proper fucking sound, Warners... what the fuck is up with the DD tracks?) or until I can get a proper HD-DVD player that does 1080p and Dolby Digital +.
Go with the HD-DVD release if you've got a good HD-DVD stand alone, if not... go with Blu-Ray. It's best to go with the Blu-Ray version if you have the add-on, you're going to lose something either way (1080p and DD+ with the add-on, or DD+ with the blu-ray release), might as well make it the lesser of two evils... -

Blu, because it'll be cheaper than the HD DVD version.

There's really no difference between DD+ and DD. Despite it's supposed next-gen advantage, HD DVD can't use regular DD on tracks above 384kbps, so Dolby made a version that HD DVD could handle for higher bitrates. Blu-ray can handle regular DD at the higher bitrates, so they don't need DD+.
Except this release has no TrueHD and no exclusive extras. If you have a 1080p BD player, go with the Blu-ray version. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate.

This thread is laughable. These discs are identical in every way. Identical VC-1 encode, Identical Dolby 640kbps audio.
Not in this case. They're the same. I know you're biased but usually you know your facts.

Everything being equal (price, PQ, AQ) I would recommend (and I am going to get trashed for saying this) going with Blu-Ray because it just seems like the safer format right now...

If you can't find it on VHS with stereo sound, then buy it on LaserDisc with digital surround sound. If that doesn't work out, then definitely buy HD DVD with DD+

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash.
we have very little reason to be interested in them.
