Shiver me Timbers!
BluRay presale of Pirates of the Caribean 1 and 2 are ranked at 733 and 670.
Now I am sure this will change but for now The Matrix Triliogy selling at 3 times the amount of either of these movies is at 41st place with the same release date.
I am posting this because many have been smacking which will have a bigger May. This is a good thread for it.

Why is this thread here and not in the Sales Rank sub-forum?
A Movie Request to Hollywood:
"The Raid" - based on the book by Benjamin F. Schemmer.
It is the true story of the U.S. Special Forces raid on the Son Tay prison camp located 23 miles from Hanoi, in an effort to rescue 70 POWs on Nov. 21, 1970.

The raiders were led by SF legends Col. "Bull" Simons and Maj. Richard Meadows.

I think POTC had a similar peak directly after its preorder-release and is now on a lower level until the real release date comes nearer. The sales rank for The Matrix will go down after some days too.

There's an awful lot of pre-orders going up for a $83.95, 3-movie set not released for 2 months. It's moved from a ranking of 3,500 to #38 in less than a day!!
How much does it cost to place a pre-order BTW? I suppose they're quite hard to cancel as well.
I'm not saying it actually is suspect. I'm just saying it looks suspect. Happy Feet (HD DVD) is out in a few days - box office hit, brand new day/date release and ranked 20 places below The Matrix set.
If all those Matrix pre-orders get paid for then I will be impressed. It will be interesting to watch the chart and stock levels post-release.
This is where HD DVD fans are right when they point out that Amazon charts are a bit flaky. I wish they would just record actual unit sales - same as DVD Empire. -

Again, PotC has been on preorder for 6 weeks. The hardcore users are always quick to place preorders. Here is a PotC graph to prove my point:

What you perceived/wished and whats reality sucks for you HD DVD fan boys doesn't it?Last edited by Balian; 03-25-2007 at 07:13 PM.

I believe it cost nothing for a pre-order until the day its release - it also doesn't cost any thing to cancel. I assume while an product is pre-order status - one could cancel it and re-add - I would think after a while Amazon might get upset. One thing Amazon lets you do is combine orders, I did that with some of mind - that just allows them to be all ship at once - I did that with 3 Blu-rays I recieved last week.
I never got a good explaination from any body on pre-orders - I think in reality we can't trust pre-orders until the movie is actually release. I think we saw this with departed. Departed look like HD DVD was going the hit during the pre-orders - but after it was release it was Blu-ray.
I think also the fan base is different between Blu-ray and HD DVD, you can tell that with Casino Royale, it appears that more people purchase it after the release. But it was a Blu-ray exclusive release which was the big difference.
Matrix is not a HD DVD exclusive, maybe Matrix will be out on HD DVD first - but its still not exclusive - Blu-ray will come a long and since its older movie, I believe that most people planning to get it as High Definition Movie, will wait for the Blu-ray.

I think this is just wishful thinking. Most dual adopters are going to get the version that comes out first so that they can enjoy the movies in HD ASAP. I predict that most people that have both HD DVD and Blu-ray will buy the HD DVD version of the Matrix Trilogy (if they even buy it at all).

PotC had a similar spike when they were first available for preorder.
