No thanks. DVD is 480. No amount of upconversion from Toshiba or any other company will make it anything but upconverted 480.

So you can take your low res cheap upconversion all you want. Or, you can stop being a Toshiba shill, and go buy some Blu-rays.

I cant really blame Toshiba,I mean what are the options now that HD-DVD lost to Blu ray?
Either go Blu and lose not only face, but also a huge chunk of the revenue stream,or stay with SD-DVD,and hope that with it you can either kill Blu ray altogether or at least contain it to the niche market.
And at the same time continuing to rake in the revenue stream from SD-DVD to both help recoupe the losses from HD-DVD and continue to profit from it in the future.

I really feel sorry for you maniacs. HD was good enough for you before HD DVD lost, now it's not?

And thanks to Photoshop, my new digital camera is equipped with a 20 billion times zoom - which means I can take close-up shots of Saturn from my backyard.

With this new super upconversion, you will be able to upconvert VHS so it looks better than real people. In fact, it will up convert your old movies into CLONES of the real actors, it's so real!

As a longtime HD DVD supporter, I hope that Toshiba fails at this too. Just cause they lost, now they are trying to bring down all of HDM. It must be so bad.

With HD DVD dead, Toshiba has announced they are soon going to bring 960p super upconversion to DVD players (and not just Toshiba HD TVs as thought before HD DVD was conspired against).

DVD =
- You can backup and secure your collection.
- You can edit.
- You can rent at low cost, and collect many more movies per $ than Blu.
- You can port to PC or portable players.
- You can share.
- Far less expensive.
- Cheap DVD-R and DL.
- Don't have to rebuy your current massive DVD collection.
- Fast loading and playback.
- No ethernet "studio remote control you" noose.
- Around 90 000 DVD available worldwide. Blu-ray? 500.

And soon, all in 960p!

:ahem:......but all those things were true when HD DVD was still viable as well sooooo.......what's your point? I mean, HD DVD players could already upconvert pretty well....and that didn't help sales.

The comparison won't be between SUC (heh heh) and DVD, it will be between SUC (it's still funny man!) and BD. SUC will lose every time to anyone who cares enough to even compare them.

They can upconvert to 1 billion-p and it's still not going to create detail that isn't there to begin with.

Pass.

I went to the video store in my lunch break and couldn't even justify paying $2 to rent a DVD (the BDs I wanted were out, dammit).

I can't wait to see super-converted mosquito noise and edge enhancement!
