Default whoa! HDD has moved Dazed & Confused's reissue to the postponed section!

I checked and didn't see a thread about this.

Combo's make more sense for the mainstream strategy. I'm glad they are delaying these non-combos. In fact they can cancel them, I always thought it was strange these two were being reissued anyway. It was delayed several weeks ago actually.

I'll leave the DC to the publicity people, and leave the proliferation of potentially adverse HD DVD news and rumors to the BDA and pro-BD sites. I expect breaking headlines tomorrow on BD.com and engadgetHD regarding "Universal (possibly) going BD, delays two HD titles" and other articles.

Check out my post history, when these were announced I said the same thing. I thought it was strange and I've always preferred combos.

Mainstream strategy? Combo discs? They should have done away with that strategy ages ago. People that want to buy HDM want exactly that, not SD-DVD material glued together that are riddled with problems.

Combo discs are horrific, and should just be completely phased out and a different approach adopted.

right on! I only buy Blu-ray (HDM) if I was a HD DVD supporter I would be selective of what HD DVD's I'd buy to avoid the combo discs. it's problematic as stated above and it adds to the cost... I honestly don't see it's worth it.

It brings value to me, and there is clearly a market for it. It's important to recognize that various consumer segments have different needs. I happen to find high-value in combos.

Both WB and Universal release all D&Ds as combos. The cost factor was limited to WB, who notably charged $5. However later changed all that by reducing the MSRP for HD DVDs by $5 and raising BD's by $2. So now both cost the same.

1. very true the combo layer does offer value above and beyond the a noncombo, like when the HD DVD side becomes scratched or unreadable, you can flip the disc :P sorry I just couldn't resist.

2. that sounds an awful like the Blu-ray supporters paying for your combo discs... or atleast the DVD side...

Where is the clear market for it? That's you personally, not a broad range of the spectrum. If they wanted to focus on the meat and potatoes of their origin (remember advocating high-definition HD DVD as the successor?), then they'd offer consumers the choice of either an HD DVD or SD-DVD disc, or even offer them up in the same packaging. Oddly enough, it indicates to me that they don't share a progressive view of the high-definition market, and are only looking to cash in on DVD royalties at the same time. It's pure greed, plain and simple. With the amount of authoring problems and discs errors, you'd think they'd eventually gain a clue.

The only reason that I saw them equal the MSRP, was because of all the problems attached to them that I stated earlier, and people growing quite tired of the process of exchanging discs. I'm sorry, but shit going in, still equates to shit going out. Changing the dollar amount isn't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes, and isn't going to magically make someone forget that they have to take back yet another combo disc due to the technical pratfalls that plagued them from the very beginning.

These are known issues and nothing new.

I'm gonna add a playable combo tally to my signature. I'm ~11-0 at the moment.
