    Thumbs down First piracy of HD DVD has come out in China

    That is Transformers.

    And their people are now discussing which HD DVDs to make next.They claim they can copy the content of BDs onto HD DVDs

    Many Chinese guys are talking about how to get a toshiba A30 or A35, since their local HD DVD players won't come in the market until March.

    In fact, they prefer bootlegs to the decent ones because of the low price and the Chinese subtitle (maybe the key thing)

    Seems HD DVD will have a long life in China.

    China is the global king of media piracy! HDDVD can sell a gazillion players, they will never translate to REAL sales, not when you can buy the same $30 movie for a buck

    yupe - cheap Chinese HD DVD players will be available EVERYWHERE in the next 3 years

    its up to Sony Pictures if they want to take advantage of this. I bet some of the CEs will be EXTREMELY happy about this new development

    Does anybody notice that it says

    "3 Disc HD-DVD Set"

    The only reason I can come up with, is they broke the movie down to two 15GB discs, and one 15GB with the bonus disc.

    Yeah, I'm sure the CEs are going to jump all over a format which can't sell any disks in the US because it has no studio support and the only movies are pirated.

    yes i noticed it i would assume you are correct in this aka a la VCD style

    It seems rather that somebody in China upgraded his bootleg DVD replicating line to HD DVD (which is cheaply and easily made, remember?) and now has a bootleg HD DVD factory.

    weither it is or isn't really doesn't matter
