I'm looking to become #6, but until the whole profile thing is a mute point I guess calling myself anything other than #1 would be wrong. However, I have no interest in blu failing. It will eventually get to where I can buy into it. I just wish that could've been now.

I would be number #6, while shifting to #4, and a sprinkling of #5 mixed in for good measure.

I'm a #2 and I will eventually be a #6 when a stand alone profile 2.0 blu-ray player is available for under $230. A profile 1.1 player would be fine also b/c i don't care for web access but i don't want to be burning cds for every firmware update which is why i'd like the network jack.

4.Supporter of HDM through a single format (Blu Ray). because of the PS3.
I had no intention into getting into the middle of a format war. Thus the reason for me not buying a SA. A few games I wanted on the PS3 got released. So I grabbed the 60gig model. Was like lets see what everyone is crying about for HDM and was like neato. Grabbed a few more BD titles and here I am now. -

I've been #6 nominally for a long time, but skewed towards Blu-ray because of the lack of decent HD DVD titles with lossless/uncompressed audio. I'm now #4 but I will keep an eye out for killer deals on closeout HD DVD sales.

This is a good thread for a poll....
At anyrate, technically I'm a #6 but as is normal with polls one options was forgotton... Purples that, while HDM in general is more important to us, still had a strong preference for one format over the other... My preference was for HD DVD and I am sad to see it go. Yeah, I do support blu now since it seems to be the clear winner, but there is still dissapointment over the short comings of bluray as a platform. But yeah, in the end (other than the fact that my BD player is broken and out for repairs) not a whole lot is changing for me. I will continue purchasing the HD DVD content that intersts me with out hesitation, and will probably end up purchasing a lot more bluray as more support and momentum goes that way.Toshiba 55" 55HT1U LCD (1080p@24fps) w/Tivo HD, Harmony 880

Don't think your list is quite all encompassing. I know very many people on this forum (myself included) who supported one format and wanted a "single format"; however, would have supported a single format if HD DVD won (and vice-versa).
Also, not sure if you've read these boards much, but we have some dual supporters that are VERY ONE-SIDED. They claim to be "format neutral" and then simply try to use this as a shield for when they kick the other format. . . . . you know who you are.
I know many times, dual supporters claimed "If either side folds, I'm good cause I own both." However, it always seemed to me, that, no matter what - they were going to get screwed (unless dual format became the norm - which would have garuanteed it remained niche, which is still not a win). The purple people are either neutral because they either support HDM through all formats, or just didn't want to pick a side, nothing really changes for them because they'll keep buying what is available on either form.
And, of course, I've always believed that dual supporters confuse the market even more.
My stance has always been the same (and anyone who has read these boards has probably seen me post it.)My question, what kind of supporter are you?
I don't care which format wins (Blu would be preferrable
) but I just want one format - the sooner the better so that HD discs have a chance of mass acceptance.
I'm the kind of supporter that doesn't think anyone here picked a bad format. In the end, there may be people who picked the "losing" format - but I think both formats have great movies with great Picture and Sound and we were always going to get a great hi-def format, no matter which way the format war went.PS3 60 gig (250 gig)

Great posts. The reason I didn't make this as a poll was because a lot of people have changed their minds since the WB switch (36 poll count is not fun) and like Christmas said these groups arent really all encompansing, so I'm more interested in why people put themselves in a particurlar group than exactly which one they're in.
