HD DVD survived earlier how? I know now a few are jumping ship but this could go on longer if it is the desire of HD DVD. HD DVD has two exclusive studios now and at inception they only had one.
Great. But they have one less studio than they had at inception, and that missing studio is the most important studio in HDM. If you think that a format can survive with only two studios releasing on it and/or those two studios will continue to release titles on the format after they're the only two, we can't have a rational discussion.

Good joke. But these are upconverting players (better recorders). Your comment just shows that Blu-Ray only user actually don't know anything about HD-DVD and it's current state.

Toshiba has a standard individual case design so actually most of their players are looking nearly the same (except of the measurements of course).

And no. It's not over. Universal and Paramount will release some great flicks this year and Warner isn't as big as some guys here stated.

Some guys here are talking if they were fans of the communism in saying things like "Warner is the only big studio and no other studio does have good releases".

    Guys: It's Hollywood not Defa.

Right, HD-DVD just lost a third of the support that their format has, not only that but the studio that had the biggest marketshare of HD-DVD disks sold, and it's 'not as big as some guys here stated'

    Hill-arious!

Well, HD-DVD guys just lost a big studio and if they feel that Warner is the only big studio that had good movies, they're fully able to come on over to the Blu-team.

Uhh, no. That's not what I said. You can continue to to try to console yourself with mere possibilities, in the face of extremely high probabilities, though.

Just look at all the new HD DVD players announced at CES (or lack thereof) to gauge the "health" of HD DVD....
    Blu-Ray - 80 (17) +PE
    HD-DVD - 12 (1)
    ( )- still shrinkwrapped

Nice try but the HD-DVD logo is CLEARLY visible on those players (at least the middle one in the lower right).

Except when they break a player with a poorly written firmware update and your 30 day return window is expired. Hell, it's been 5 weeks since POTC:AWE was released and they still have no firmware to make it play on the Samsuck BD-P1200.

no chance. and if it did come to that Toshiba would just pay the retailers for endcaps and further promotion in the stores

The middle one maybe an HD-DVD player. But the upper one is obviously an HDD recorder (as the feature list states).
