And we now need to add...

BD: NO region code is the last advantage HD DVD has.

Are we 100% sure these are legal imports - maybe they are not from actual studios. but instead blackmarketed transfers.

Amazon LOVES getting sued selling blackmarketed transfers! Believe it or not, films studio system allows for one studio to produce the film and sell the distribution rights to another studio. In (the vast majority) of these cases, they sold the distribution rights to Studio Canal in France, Warner in the UK or Universal in Japan for release in those respective area's. As a result BD only titles in the states end up being neutral or HD only titles elsewhere in the world. These are legitimate releases, get over it.

LOL! Do a little homework. Film distribution rights are a little complicated. That is why having no region codes is a big advantage for HD DVD.

I wasn't taking about the amazon sites - I was actually looking for this movie since its from Disney. I am sure if they do sell some films - but not likely all.

I think it would be good idea try to keep this disucssion to this movie in the Blu-ray format. Let try to get back to discussion of this movie on Blu-ray instead Hijacking HD DVD stuff into it. It makes the thread very messy.

What? This was originally posted in the smackdown forum. I was just continuing the conversation you started. There is no hijacking going on, buddy. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, oh well. I'm sorry I can import a movie you thought was a Blu-ray exclusive.

I have a feeling they didn't have enough room to fit extras on one disc because they used the whole disc on JUST the movie. And no, they are not using MPEG-2.
You keep making fallacious statements. King Kong and Hulk are already 5 star titles to PB. Adding more data may not correspond to a better picture. PQ is not limited by datarate in some linear fashion, there are easy movies to compress and difficult movies to compress. You keep rattling off specs like they mean something or support your argument but the point is moot if 5 star titles already exist at 30GB.

Check out "The Covenant" This is a 5 Star Blu-ray movie in 25GB of space. If your hypothesis about bandwidth and space cut muster then what would be your explanation of this movie?

Your assertions do not hold up under even the most basic level of scrutiny. Find a new argument.

Moved this discussion back into the smackdown area since it really did not belong in the Blu-ray software area.
