Default More Commentary from Michael Bay

Love him or hate him, I thought it was interesting of him to take the time to say this:

Quote:
What you don't understand is corporate politics. Microsoft wants both formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray. They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth.

Bay

No, they denied that they wrote any cheques.
Big difference. You have to listen carefully to fear-mongers like Amir and Collins to hear what they're really saying.

$100 to Paramount proper, $50 million for Dreamworks animation.

Or something like that.

$100 to Paramount, $50 to DW.

Looks like you've been surding over at HDFud.com - you're probably the only one though!!

Bay knows BD is better, most discerning people familiar with movies do.

Sony is opening a movie download service for the PS3 soon. Guess they want HDM to fail also. I don't see why people think its a bad thing for these companies to get into digital downloads. If/when they become big business wouldn't you want to have your foot in the door first instead of playing catch up?

If MS is waiting for digital downloads to be king, they're going to wait a looong time.

So they brought a big suitcase full of money, handcuffed to some man's wrist, and did an exchange?

Whatever the case, if Amir said it, then I would have to agree with him. He's/He was higher up in that chain than all of us.

Fear mongers?? That's a tad extreme, he never pushed me into fearing anything.

Default this is getting old...

this "microsoft wants both to die so we can go to digital downloads" bit is getting old and tired. what % of the U.S. population actually has an hdtv? how much smaller do you think the % of people who have a home theater PC is?

unless microsoft builds their own infrastructure that allows people to downloads gbs and gbs of data each month (which won't take days to download), i don't see this happening anytime in the near future.

I hope so. The very idea of downloading movies turns my stomach.

Of course not, you support HD DVD, you're not interested in what he's had to say about Blu-ray over the past 18 months.

Again, you've missed the point. They didn't write cheques, that's all they've said on the matter. You wish to infer something else from that go ahead, that's exactly the plan.

As for fear mongering - when you suggest to everyone that's reading your posts and just getting into the AVS insiders thread that all BD's will be MPEG-2 and 25GB which is why HD DVD is better, that's fear-mongering and it's based on lies, which is FUD-mongering.

HD DVD wouldn't have half the supporters it does right now where it not for the fine work of Mr. Amir Majidimehr.
