We're proud of you man! You personally decided the format war for the week of Nov 11, 2007!

If the blu-ray BOGO had that much impact as this insider guy is reporting, I sure do wish I had placed more a catalog titles in my pick....

The guy doesn't know what he was talking about. I am pretty sure Blu-ray outsold HD DVD in the top 10 alone. With the ratio of 66:34, the BOGO was just padding. Look at the Transformers week. Transformers sold 115,000 in the first and HD DVD lost 51:49. Shrek in contrast only did around 33,000 and Blu-ray won easily 66:34. The sell of O13 BD + Ratatouille probably offset Shrek's numbers while SM3 + Cars + SMT + Close Encounters + Pixar Shorts offset O13 + Transformers easily.

You say he doesn't know what he is talking about, and then go around quoting his 66:33 ratio as gospel

The 66:34 is not hard to discern. Let me illustrate:

66:34

Vaughn: oh its 66:34 for this week.

Anyone can read but not everyone can interpret the data. There is a difference.

2.5 mil DOES NOT = 600 000
20% of 2.2m= 450k, the number using their ps3's as players (60% don't even know they are players)
so, if your bd figures are correct, that would give 700,000 br players in use. After the $99 weekend, i remember numerous articles reported 420,000 as the minimum number of hd-dvd SAs that had been sold, so your HDDVD SA figure is off. That was weeks ago, before BF and the Amazon A3 sale, so there's no reason to believe there isn't 500,000 SAs in house now. So, yes, i think the number of players in use are fairly even atm.

If that's true, then the "attach rate" of Blu-ray is TWICE that of HD-DVD given title sales figures.

Im so sick of those stupid faces. I swear to god almost every blu post has them.

Attach rates will never be figured out for blu-ray ever, and sony wants it like that. The sales look better for them when you cant detemine the attach rates for BD.

I mean you have an almost solid attach rate for hd dvd players, and its good.

You have a solid attach rate for xbox 360 games, and its great.

Then you have a game attach rate for the ps3 and its piss poor.

If you could determine the attach rate for Blu-movies per ps3, it would be just as piss poor as the ps3 games. Hence the millions of players, but hardly double the movie sales of hd dvd.

Sony doesnt want to know, nor do they want you to know. All they care about you knowing is how many movies sold.

I think we will see that number fall dramatically given the success of the 40GB model and the inclusion of Spider-man 3 in the box. Whoever at Sony thought of including a movie deserves a fat Christmas bonus.

Because if they let you know how many movies sold and how many players sold you can divide them to find out for yourself. Transparent results that show success vs. iffy black box results that show success and fly in the face of data. Your choice.

That's cause we're writing and can't convey emotional content correctly, especially for those sentences that might otherwise seem hostile

I would rather Kalim express his self with Smiley faces instead of words. He could stop using words and just use a smiley, it will do us all alot of good.

Numbers are out -

No big surprise here:

They're only giving us the YTD Top selling titles this week - no weekly Top Titles.

So, no NCS results for last week, unless some other sources publishes them.

For what it's worth, here's the YTD Top 10 tally -

Bummer, I was only 1 point off on the ratio. Oh well. So be it.
