Whoa Whoa Whoa, if you want to blame Warner Bros. for the lack of a lossless track thats fine.
But don't blame HD DVD, because there would have been plenty of room for Dolby TrueHD, as proven by a countless amount of titles that have more special features and a longer running time, yet still has a TrueHD track. -

The fact is they could have added an extra track to Blu and chose not to.
They have different specs on the HP movies for each format, with the deleted scenes being HD and having different featurettes to HD DVDs IME and SD deleted scenes.
They dont just duplicate the HD DVD release for Blu Ray which Blu just assume they do on all titles. Didnt Blood Diamond get released a full month ahead of HD DVD on Blu Ray, yet HD DVD didnt get 'helf back' with IME being included -

Just remember "300" sales numbers. Doubt they'd start straying away and lose money during the holidays.

warner isn't a pity place... they like ime so they put it whenever they can... i hate it how blu fanboys cry because they paid more for their player and aren't getting a pcm track added special for them. if warner chose losles, they would choose dolby truehd. pcm is bullcrap and a waste of space when you get the same coming from truehd.

yeah... that's what blu fanboys do because they are stubborn assholes... it's been out on hd dvd for a long time... i only import If it is still in theaters (mr bean) or no sign of release (mr and mrs smith i got this summer)... or if they are cheaper than the other format here (got the rambo movies 20 bucks each imported from austrailia)...

It does suck that just b/c HD DVD is an inferior technology, Blu-ray has to be held back. It's not the first time this has happened.

Warner's new policy is to use lossless on as many titles as possible.
The Aviator was encoded a LONG time ago and has only now found its way to release. That is why there is no lossless audio on either format.
Boycotting this title won't solve anything.
I point to the 24-bit tracks on recent releases as an example of Warner's current policy regarding audio.
They aren't going to go back and redo a title for lossless. The reason Superman Returns got TrueHD and PCM on Blu-ray (the Pioneer Elite version) was because the lossless encode already existed.
There will still be a few sneak out here are there without lossless, but it's only because they were encoded several months ago.
For example, the full version of Hamlet AFAIK has been ready for sometime, but a suitable release window hasn't presented itself yet. -
