Default Warner Says Silverberg Comments "Misquoted and Misconstrued"

Just posted:

Nearly a week after a Warner VP appeared to indicate otherwise, the studio told High-Def Digest that it has no plans to cease its dual-format stance, pledging a strong line-up for both Blu-ray and HD DVD in 2008.

Well thats too bad, I was hoping that they would just pick blu and we could all put the silliness of this format war behind us.

Edit: of course this could just be another example of corporate coyness.

I doubt it... you know how fanboys are, they will continue down their Candyland paths right to the end of the Gumdrop Forest.

I think it's funny how many people wasted posts on Blu will win Warner over or that Warner will choose HD-DVD. Like I said in another post, Warner is only interested in their bottom line. Nuff said.

Yeah, it was quite a strong denial, much more so than I would have expected (you know, one of those deals where they deny it right up until the end, but then make the announcement). It looks like WB isn't going anywhere.

Although you have to wonder about VP making such strong statements implying the contrary.

As expected. Now folks can get away from the notion that they were waiting for sales results/numbers shift after 99 dollar A2s.

Of course, they're saying this now. The Q4 HD-DVDs are minted and going to be sold through the holidays. They want to sell that stock and make money. January is when the announcement will come. Essentially, they've made their decision for next year. Just wait...

My god, after only a few replies, it's almost as if the original post didn't exist. Amazing.

Well, that was anticlimactic. I'm just glad they're sticking around.

yes, because nothing helps your sales than screwing with tens of thousands of new customers.

Warner haven't decided anything, and they'll stay neutral.

They're producing the same disc for both sides, VC-1, adding in IME for the HD guys, and featurettes for the BD guys.

A model, by the way, that works, and could be copied by all parties.

I have an HD-A20 and a PS3 but leaned red because the extras did count. Bye Bye HD, you gave it your best, that's all we could ask. Sony, finish your damn product already!

The Numbers: 900+ DVDs (rapidly declining), 34 HD-DVDs (+1 on order, + 5 free), 17 BDs (+2 on order). Last movie: Close Encounters.
