Default What's the build date on your A2???

The floor model I picked up at BB yesterday (which is going back today) is stamped Dec 06. The brand new one I got this morning is stamped January 2007. That's nearly 10 months ago!! Has walmart been stockpiling them this long for the sell????

This is a good question from the OP. When I bought my D2 (Costco branded player) in late May the build date was early April (if memory serves) and it was built in China.

A member of avs said he'd seen 2 decks made in Japan and 10 made in China.

I realized the floor model I bought was Dec 06, because it was the model not used to actually play the discs on the endcap, I was just surprised the brand new one one this old. I would have thought aug or july.

Hmm. my box lists the player as made in China....great

Anyone remember when we thought "Made In Taiwan" meant questionable quality? "made in China" makes that look like quality german engineering.

what was the price back in january? like 400 bucks or something right?

So if toshiba DIDN"T compensate them, then holy crap they are underselling them!

Things change. Just like how your grapes used to be sweet but now they are sour.

I have to say...today marks the absolute worst smackdown from you and the usual suspects.

Step it up or stop posting. You are cluttering up all the great posts about intelligent people getting a great bargain on a great HD DVD player.

Oh, and Paramount told me to say hello...they said the Walmart sale was mind bottling.

Are you "h4ldol", from EngadgetHD? You two seem to have a lot in common.

intelligent people know toshiba is dumping their stock, and Toshiba is thinking oh shit we are going to get stuck with all these players if we don't do something.

dumb people think toshiba is fighting and that this was a strategic move.
